Upgrades —May 5, 2020

I haven't really tuned this deck in a long time. It was time for some upgrades.

This deck is quite awesome, but have you considered putting Mirari's Wake into it? That card is so useful that I feel that any EDH deck that contains green and white should have it.

Also, Ajani Steadfast , Ajani Unyielding , and Archangel of Thune would provide additional methods for making your creature tokens more powerful.

Thanks! I'm glad you like the deck.

Mirari's Wake is already on the list. It's great for ramp and to buff my army a bit.

Ajani Steadfast doesn't really mesh well with a go-wide strategy. His +1 is limited to only one creature, and his ult is okay. His -2 is useful especially with other plainswalkers, but again I feel the usefulness is so limited that it's not really worth including him.

Ajani Unyielding on the other hand...I really like this one. Card draw, removal, and excessive overrun all in one card. I just don't know where I would cut for him.

Archangel of Thune could be nice and would certainly buff my tokens each turn since she'd almost always get damage in. However I'm not sure there's room for her here unless you can convince me she is more deserving of a slot than something I'm already running. Keep in mind I'm trying to keep as much of this budget as I can. I'd have to drop close to $15 on her, and I'm already doing that for a few other cards in the list.

Nice list!

Every time I see Nacatl War-Pride , I think of Kamahl, Fist of Krosa . He's overrun on a stick, but, also serves a great purpose with Nacatl. As you're getting ready to declare attackers, you can animate the defending players lands, which will give you even more tokens from Nacatl. It'll put them in a tough spot of either taking more damage or losing lands to prevent it. Not sure if it's your cup of tea for this sort of thing but I wanted to throw it out there just in case!

Depending on your meta it could also serve as a board wipe deterrent for a go-wide strategy.

Cheer!

I was looking through your list and I was surprised not to see a couple of cards in it and I didn't know if you had a reason for them not being in the deck. 1) Doubling Season , 2) Teferi's Protection . These 2 cards I think would be extremely beneficial for your deck and should be in it.

What about Divine Visitation with that card in there you could have a great deal of Serra angels everywhere

That’s a really funny interaction. Kamahl isn’t too pricy, but I might have to save him as an upgrade later. His overrun ability is relevant in any case, so it’ll be worth finding a slot for him in the future.

I mentioned Doubling Season in the description. I actually own both that and Teferi's Protection but only one copy of each, and they’re in different decks. They would be absolutely perfect here, though; you’re right about that. It’s mostly a budget constraint why they’re not included.

Divine Visitation is just fun because having an even bigger army is always nice. I did pull one, but I’m planning on using it in a Teysa Karlov Aristocrats deck. I don’t think this deck is necessarily missing it, though. It can still pump creatures up effectively, and we don’t need the flying so much. It’s definitely a viable option, though.

After looking at you combat trick section, I would vote for replacing Krosan Vorine with Lowland Tracker . It does cost 1 more mana, but it has first strike. You pair that with Bow of Nylea , Basilisk Collar , or Gorgon Flail (other strong inclusions in a deck with Mirri) and now the Tracker is just straight removal.

Also, some other fun cards with Lure effects are Druid's Call , Saber Ants , and Broodhatch Nantuko .

Shamanic Revelation can be pretty potent card draw in a token deck as well. Yes you need a board state to get anything, but it has pretty high upside.

Yeah I had been debating about that one, and the keeping the mana curve low was the biggest reason I included Krosan Vorine . You make a good point, though. I think that one extra mana might just be worth Lowland Tracker ’s first strike.

I’m a little confused by your next suggestion because none of those cards have a Lure effect. They don’t force blockers; they just do things when they’re blocked. Including lure effects would be a great idea if I can find room for them, though.

Yeah, Shamanic Revelation is really good. It’s similar to Camaraderie which nets me life regardless of my creatures’ power. I think if I had enough creatures with power over 4 to make the second part worth it, it would just be win-more. Still good draw power regardless. It might find its way in if I need another high draw spell.

Thanks for taking a look at the deck and giving some feedback!

With you generating so many tokens Beastmaster Ascension would be a good pick for a wincon with an army of giant tokens. +1 for a fun deck that I may build because this shit is rad

Thanks! Beastmaster Ascension is already on the list!

I was more just giving other options if you chose to run more Lure effects. Druid's Call is really the only one the currently works with the various combat tricks in your deck because you can put it on one of your creatures that manipulate blocking.

That’s a good point and a rather tempting one, too. I’ll have to play around with that and decide if it’s worth keeping. It definitely has potential.
