Bridge to Phyrexia (Current as of ONE)

Commander / EDH* Creature Cheat Phyrexian Praetor

JayaPrime

The Mother of Machines is finally here, and it's time to update my Phyrexian deck with Esika at the helm and praetors everywhere.

Early Game: The first three turns are dedicated to ramping and set up, with most games aiming to release the bridge on turn four. If it's not dealt with quickly, the game quickly spins out of hand in your favor.

Midgame: Once the first bridge is dealt with, switching into preparation mode with upkeep doublers and control will carry you into the midgame. There is a selectrion of high impact wraths combined with spot removal, with many of these also serving as ramp. Although the Field of the Dead is a prime land to ramp into, be sure to first ramp into The World Tree to ensure your mana base is covered. Lands like Yavimaya and Urborg are ways to transform colorless lands into colors (e.g., Reliquary Tower and Boseiju, Who Shelters All).

Endgame: One praetor on the board is often enough to turn the game in your favor, a second easily makes you archenemy and you'll need to be prepared to wage war on the entire table. Once your opponents have been weakened, close out the game with Torment of Hailfire or Exsanguinate; either that, or a zombie army buffed by Elesh Norn or Titania's Command.

Removal & Protection: There are a few cards that can be used as removal or protection, and they're irreplaceable in any bridge deck: * Sudden Detour * Oblation * Unexpectedly Absent

Topdeck Manipulation: Scroll Rack, Worldly Tutor, and Long-Term Plans are all ways to ensure that you get the best bang out of the bridge once it's online. The same goes for the specialized removal spells listed above, which can flip the script on an opponent's attempt to remove one of your praetors and instead bring them right back to the table on the next turn.

Ruination: The two wraths that are required for every bridge deck are definitely included, both Hallowed Burial and Terminus. To keep with the Phyrexian Flavor, both Phyrexian Scriptures and Phrexian Rebirth are also included. Then, as our legions are all legendary, I've also included Urza's Ruinous Blast. The only creature not immune to the blast is the Sphinx of the Second Sun. If you happen to be holding back Imprisoned in the Moon, it's another way to save it other than a topdeck protection spell like Oblation.

May your enemies fall before you. All hail the glory of Phyrexia!
