Welcome to my Breya artifact control deck for semi-casual commander games. The deck was designed around the Karn, the Great Creator + Mycosynth Lattice lock, with a bulky control stacking shell and enough masterpieces and artifacts to make your opponents wish they were sitting in your spot.

What This Deck Is This deck is a fun, artifact-themed control deck with a multitude of ways to win with infect, commander damage, artifact-collecting with Hellkite Tyrant , and more. It was designed to be able to generate the lock as early as turn 2 or as late as desired, since it can work without the lock for the entirety of games if a more casual and interactive match is desired. Versatility, control and artifacts are the 3 key words here.

What This Deck Is Not This deck is not a competitive tier 1 deck, though it would be interesting to play it at a cEDH table just to try it out. This deck is designed to be a semi-competitive deck that allows its player to decide how much control they want to stack up and how much they want to prolong matches and force interaction.

Here are its main lines of control:

  1. The one-sided game lock: Karn, the Great Creator + Mycosynth Lattice . This can single-handedly lock up and win the game if the opponents let both out at once. With the game locked for your opponents, Karn's +1 ability can blow up an opponent's land each turn and his -2 ability can start grabbing artifacts from the sideboard as needed. This buys time to go grab some beaters or other wincons and seal the win.

  2. Counter-magic and non-land permanent destruction: Chalice of the Void , Cyclonic Rift , Dispatch , Disenchant , Go for the Throat , Hurkyl's Recall , Mana Drain , Path to Exile , Swords to Plowshares , Vandalblast and Engineered Explosives . These cards exist in the deck to help stop opponents from setting up or establishing key combo pieces while the noose of control tightens around them. Challice also has a nice little synergy with Aether Vial , which can help this deck get its creatures out if its player is forced to set Chalice of the Void to counter CMC-3 spells as this deck contains a majority of spells of this CMC. Spellskite can help direct counterspells and the like away from desireable permanents.

  3. Deck-searching stops: Ashiok, Dream Render and Aven Mindcensor . These two help stop opponents from digging for answers and shut down fetchlands.

  4. Turn-based taxes or blocks: Ethersworn Canonist , Grand Abolisher , Defense Grid , Smothering Tithe and Ghostly Prison . These cards help stop opponents from countering your spells, dealing combat damage, dissuade them from heavy dard draw, limit their casting abilities, etc. These all help prolong the game and your life while the lattice of industry spreads.

  5. Land destruction: Strip Mine , Mycosynth Lattice + Sydri, Galvanic Genius and Karn, the Great Creator + Mycosynth Lattice . Sydri's and Karn's abilities make your opponent's lands 0/0 creatures which then die instantly when Mycosynth Lattice is in play, and good ol' Strip Mine can threaten an opponent's important land.

  6. Self-preservation, hexproof and indestructibility: Lightning Greaves , Darksteel Forge , Platinum Emperion , Platinum Angel and Padeem, Consul of Innovation . These cards protect you, your permanents, and can further lock down the game in your favor if Mycosynth Lattice is in play.

The deck also utilizes many forms of tutoring and/or cheating artifacts into play which involve cards like Arcum Dagsson , Fabricate , Demonic Tutor , Vampiric Tutor , Enlightened Tutor , Trinket Mage , Treasure Mage , Master Transmuter , Muddle the Mixture and Spellseeker . Some graveyard reanimation is present with cards like Academy Ruins , Unearth and Buried Ruin , but this is an area the deck is lacking in.

Various forms of card draw are in the deck as well in the form of: Mind Stone , Baleful Strix , Ponder , Preordain and Sensei's Divining Top . I've also included one of my favourite 2-card pieces, Omniscience + Show and Tell .

Overall, I am very happy with the deck's performance and consistency but would welcome feedback and suggestions, particularly on options for the sideboard and graveyard reanimation. Have fun if you decide to try this one out!
