I would defintely include Toxic Deluge. For 3 mana it is untargeted removal that can kill anything. Moreover, it can easily break parity and it sets up the graveyard for George.

It's a fair point. Deluge is in my sideboard / maybeboard. So far with Breya herself, StP and Izzet Charm I've been ok on creature removal.

Spine of Ish Sah has awesome synergy with Breya.

em ni gr zz y,

This is a competitive deck. If you notice, there's no card with CMC > 5 besides dragon, which is never cast. The deck usually wins by turn 4.

demonicgrizzly says... #5

so? whether or not your deck is competitive you can still set up and combo kill an entire table with it.

you don't have to run the card, obviously, as it's your deck, not mine.- i have just seen it do broken things in the many games that i have played against some of the breya decks at my LGS. infinitely sacking and re-casting it to destroy everyone's land is the most popular. just tyring to spur some conversation, is all.

But Breya can just win with infinite mana since she can just lightning bolt the table to death. She does not need another card. The interaction with spine is nice and all but it is just a dead card in a competitive ad nauseam deck.

The deck looks awesome, question for you though; how important are the underground sea/fetches/mana drain/LED? does the deck operate decently with out them?

December 20, 2016 2:32 a.m.

mmcgeach says... #8

Nex81, the duals, fetches, and LED are integral combo pieces. Mana Drain is just awesome.

I'll put up an explanation of how the combos work, I thought that was common knowledge.

Explanations updated! Let me know if this is clear of if there's more questions.

Also let me know what cards have worked well/not-so-well in your own Breya lists. I feel like there's room for improvement, but I can't really tell what I should cut.

Thanks for the response I appreciate it. I was asking more for budget reasons than anything. I just don't see my self every buying a drain/led. And I was hoping the build worked without them (just a bit slower)

Have you considered Piranha Marsh? It probably wouldn't work in here due to the obvious downsides of entering tapped and producing only black mana, but it could help with the Animate Dragon win by enabling you to combo off without acquiring all four colors.

Primusfan42: I see your point there. It's kind of elegant, but also I don't think it does enough for the deck to use a slot.

I think Piranha Marsh is worse than a fetch land, which does the same thing (help win with Dragon combo, if your other lands are not yet providing all 4 colors). But it's more like a spell than a land, anyway. Which makes it comparable to Bazaar of Baghdad, since the bazaar also is there primarily to help the dragon combo. Except bazaar is basically Careful Study on a land; so instead of including careful study as a discard outlet I went for the bazaar here; since it's reusable and helps during the dragon combo. Careful Study is a card that almost made the cut in the deck anyway; casting it every turn is probably better than casting it once; but in practice Bazaar is not one of the best cards in the deck. I usually only get a few activations off it before the card disadvantage is too great, although it's great after any kind of wheel effect. (Bazaar makes me want to add additional card advantage, like maybe Deep Analysis.)

Also, it turns out that colors are not usually a problem in this deck; the mana base works excellently.

Anyway, if it were better than Bazaar of Baghdad, I'd run it. But bazaar has a lot of uses outside of just enabling leaner dragon combos; whereas piranha marsh seems to have a lot less.

OH MAN, note that with Laboratory Maniac in the deck, you can do the dragon combo with nothing but bazaar. Let's say you went turn 1: play Bazaar of Baghdad, Lotus Petal, Dark Ritual, Entomb -> Worldgorger Dragon, Animate Dead the dragon. You then tap bazaar until you're down to 0 or 1 card in your library, then choose to move the animate dead onto the laboratory maniac, then tap bazaar for the win.

mmcgeach: I'm glad to see you going more in depth with your descriptions; it's definitely going to be a nice read when it is done. If you're looking to clean it up a bit, you can use this code and modify it to your liking:

It'll end up looking like my Breya list:

You've already seen my list, as we were having a discussion over on reddit.

Aha, thanks. I was trying to use the tappedout.net formatting help page, and that seems to contain a lot of typos, so that was pretty useless.

I like the accordion action. It'll help as I try to bring some of the discussions from the cEDH reddit here, for easy reference. :)

Would you also mind taking a read through my Primer and give me your thoughts?

Guerte, So far I like the extra draw a lot in Night's Whisper and Deep Analysis; but I am feeling like the list is down a tutor - I'm watching the prices on judge foil Imperial Seal... Lower, lower, getting low... er...

January 12, 2017 10:06 a.m.

Guerte says... #17

mmcgeach: I got my S-Chinese Imperial Seal for a decent price not too long ago. I would love to get my hands on a judge foil tho.

I ended up dropping Lim-Dul's Vault for Night's Whisper, although I'm still not sure that was the best cut. I wanted Whisper in hopes of getting a turn 1 Doomsday kill someday.

January 12, 2017 10:24 a.m.

mmcgeach says... #18

Turn 1 doomsday kills aren't super likely... But I think there's some room to develop viable turn-1 doomsday piles that win by passing the turn once. I mean, having the mana to cast doomsday turn 1 is sort of likely. But, pass-the-turn piles are risky and hard to get right, and really dependent on the situation on board and your cards in hand.

January 12, 2017 12:54 p.m.

Guerte says... #19

mmcgeach: I understand that getting a turn 1 Doomsday kill will rarely happen, but having the right cards in the deck to help facilitate the possibly isn't a bad idea. And Night's Whisper just seems like a good draw spell to have.

how good is WGD as a combo? it doesn't shore up any weaknesses with bomberman and WGD blasts you for 6 off AdNaus.

February 17, 2017 2:35 p.m.

mmcgeach says... #21

WGD is a pretty strong combo. It does have advantages over bomberman. You can protect it with counterspells. That's a huge win over bomberman. Also bomberman is probably 4 mana to go off; WGD is 2 mana.

Yes, WGD is a six mana card. But the average CMC is 1.9 in the deck, so ad naus works just fine.

Not as Flexible as The Salvagers, but Argivian Archaeologist is a good card if your not to bothered by the mana specificity.

February 19, 2017 3:52 p.m.

mmcgeach says... #23

KillKid20095: Salvagers is basically just here as a combo piece with LED, so the archaeologist, while super retro-cool, just doesn't do much. Salvagers is sometimes good in a non-combo way; grabbing back mana rocks to sac to Breya, but that's not plan-A here.
