The Goal: Deck everyone!
So this deck relies on people assuming you are going to win by playing bombs for free. While the tools are there to do that, this deck simply uses them as a last resort or, dare I say, an alternate wincon. Instead, you want to mill them to death. The trick is to make sure your bombs are used as a distraction while you set up your board.
One of the best and well-known interactions in this deck is Braids and
Paradox Haze
. Paradox Haze allows you to play two free cards instead of one.
Braids also allows for card draw setups like
Alhammarret's Archive
,
Psychosis Crawler
, and
Keening Stone
to be played for free on your upkeep so that your mana is free to best utilize them with the mana saved on your main phase.
Jace's Erasure
and
Sphinx's Tutelage
are ways to keep opponents in check by threatening to target them (because single target :/) if they do something you don't want them to.
Psychic Corrosion
is an incredible mill engine for the deck but it doesn't let you play politics and choose a target.
To make the best use of these cards, you are going to want to have things like
Howling Mine
and
Kami of the Crescent Moon
and other extra card drawers to maintain a constant threat and keep your mill going. With one or more of the mill enchantments out,
Jace's Archivist
, wheel spells, and even
Jace, Memory Adept
are hilarious ways to burst draw many cards at once. While many card draw effects are symmetrical, you can see it as milling for twice the amount. Dropping a
Teferi's Puzzle Box
with one or more mill enchants can win you the game in a few turns, especially with a large hand and a few wheel spells.
To make sure you can properly utilize cards that cause you to draw a bunch cough cough
Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur
,
Reliquary Tower
and
Spellbook
will help you keep your hand fat.
Jace's Archivist
and
Sturmgeist
are prime examples of cards that benefit from no maximum hand size. Also, note that you can use
Tolaria West
's transmute to tutor for
Spellbook
in a pinch.
There's an ok variety of utility cards, from various counterspells to
Hurkyl's Recall
and
Imprisoned in the Moon
. One of my favorites is using
Energy Tap
on a beefy Eldrazi you played with Braids for free, allowing you to cast another big creature, a high
Blue Sun's Zenith
, or even just cast
Enter the Infinite
and win the whole game
If you have
Alhammarret's Archive
or
Consecrated Sphinx
in play, there is a good chance that you are going to be drawing a bunch of cards very quickly. If you find yourself low on deck material, don't worry, you have options. You can use
Elixir of Immortality
and
Learn from the Past
for a quick refresh,
Psychic Spiral
to mill someone for quite a bit, OR, just keep drawing and win with
Laboratory Maniac
.
Some cards are in here just for fun, and this isn't a super serious deck. Suggestions and fun combos to add are welcome!
COMBOS
This deck includes a handful of two or three card combos that, while powerful on their own, can produce devastating results while together.
Closing...
I'd be happy to answer any questions about this deck and I'm open to feedback on every part of it. I've been playing some form of this deck since 2016, and it has undergone countless overhauls. It's starting to feel more permanent, and I only forsee additions of either expensive cards or cards that have yet to be printed. I will also explain why a certain card is in here over another if you are curious about anything.
Thank you, and feel free to leave a like or feedback!
Happy conjuring!
