I think you might find that Electrickery kind of sucks most of the time. Of course there are times when its nice, but just remember what decks you will be facing. Might I suggest Annihilating Fire ? More damage and exiles the critter, perfect for the numerous zombie decks everybody seems to be relying on, and while I know the mana cost is relatively prohibitive, if you draw them with epic you will certainly be happy. And if you can find a place for it, maybe 3x Snapcaster Mage ? I am not sure he is a good fit here (because if you use the experiement then he probably doesn't have very many targets..._) but if you haven't tested him its worth the shot. And I am a huge fan of rakdos return, but not exactly here, maybe cut it to one or two and boost one of the more relevant defensive spells because against a really fast aggro deck you might get blown out or be forced to block with the sniper, which kind of ruins the whole deal. Maybe instead of the return why not try some counters main board to protect your gutter snipe, like Dissipate or Syncopate ? I know its kind of all over the place, but I really like the deck and I feel like just a few minor tweaks can really make it scary. Good work!

Oops, I missed your Dissipate in your sideboard, lol. And Annihilating Fire is probably a bad idea, but I really feel like you will be frustrated with Electrickery since 90% of the time it will probably be a dead card, plus it only targets creatures so if you draw it with epic experiment it probably won't have much effect, so maybe Mizzium Mortars ? Of course I make these suggestions assuming you have literally infinite money, I know I could not afford triple snapcasters with the way my funds are looking, lol.

Notice I do have Quad Steam Vents in the decklist... I do have 3 of them... the snapcasters may be a good idea. I am not a huge fan of Mizzium Mortars as opposed to Electrickery as it will stomp exalted and human token's. card:Rakdos's Return does its job, their gamestate is moved to a screeching halt. But downing it by one for an Unsummon might be more beneficial. Annihilating Fire just didn't get there when I playtested it when first debating whether it belonged in the deck. but thanks for the suggestions. Any more or anyone you know who might be able to provide more suggestions is greatly appreciated. I was also debating putting in Essence Backlash as another counter spell that might be good in a sideboard against big stompies or "The Big Stompie" a.k.a. Worldspine Wurm .

I'm not sure if Blood Artist is really working here; I think that it should be Rakdos Charm because you can hit it off Epic Experiment (which is my favorite rtr card), and you can still have it deal damage for each creature your opponent controls.

Also, being a combo deck, you need a way to protect yourself, I suggest Duress at least in the sideboard. Because blue decks will pack counters somewhere in their 75.

I see your point about Blood Artist but I need a crature so I don't get mauled by extreme aggro decks. I'll test out Duress and see if it gets there but what can I take out for it?

I found that I had to really work hard to protect the Guttersnipe for it to be relevant or atleast to be there long enough to get 1 lethal combo turn with an Epic Experiment . Apart from the card removals and counterspells I found that Mizzium Skin worked for me in my IZ this the new Burn ? deck . Just my 2 cents.I wish you good luck on the deck and many happy games.

I would consider a Temporal Mastery or 2 so if you somehow don't kill your opponent with guttersnipe then if you have talrand out then you could get some drakes then take an extra turn and then swing with all your drakes before your opponent can respond with something like Detention Sphere .

If you need to just stall for awhile Sleep does a pretty good job at that.

October 7, 2012 4:13 p.m.

I agree but I think the Unsummon s and Cyclonic Rift do a better job of that. Plus Tribute to Hunger is devastating.

Now, I know this is kind of annoying. Lingering Souls , Splash that Shit.

October 7, 2012 7:53 p.m.

Ehhhhhhh... If I did that I'd have to add Feeling of Dread and Oblivion Ring ... Maybe?

October 7, 2012 8:06 p.m.

Should I sideboard Sever the Bloodline for use against Zombies and Populate? Or should I mainboard it?

Have you tried Arcane Melee in the deck? Its costly but on the upside, your gameplan is just to cast as much as you can and get benefits from Guttersnipe . I run it in my burning vengeance deck and its a complete blowout once it hits the table. Mind you i stockpile all my spells in the graveyard. It might work here if the deck was all about fuelling guttersnipe with draw spells...

October 8, 2012 7:35 a.m.

Unfortunately, it is too costly and decreases the likelihood of a successful Epic Experiment so I cannot make room for Arcane Melee

Just tried making my own version of a Guttersnipe deck. Sure enough Arcane Melee doesn't make the cut due to the mana cost, but a single Goblin Electromancer just makes a lot of things so much easier. 2 mana for 2 cards with Divination is pretty good. Plus adding a Curiosity -esque effect to Guttersnipe just makes him so much more dangerous. While he deals damage he also fuels himself. It might not seem like much at first but he just makes the deck so much more consistent plus you never lose the advantage with everything in your hand

You definitely need more than 20 land. Maybe lose blood artist. How much use has it been to you?

October 8, 2012 12:51 p.m.

Blood Artist is a viable chump with the lifegain and loss when I eliminate creatures he does his job. More than 20 lands? When nothing costs more than 4 to cast with the exception of X spells. Divination , Think Twice , and Goblin Electromancer were all weeded out in the early stages of the deck for being more of a nuisance than any help at all. But thanks for the suggestions as a may be revisiting Goblin Electromancer .

I was just thinking, with it being 3 colors and having no draw spells, you'd need more land to get the mana right and get the most out f that x on Epic Experiment . Check my guttersnipe deck ... Izzet Heat: The Steam Machine it splashes green for Quirion Dryad she's pretty difficult to deal with if left unchecked.

O and +1 from me :-)

have you looked at the deathwright shaman? i think that card has some potential with your deck you can exile the spells that dont have flash back to keep pinging them for 2 damage lol iuno i just think its a niffty little creature card.

It's not an instant or sorcery, but Curiosity works wonders with Guttersnipe .

October 10, 2012 8:59 a.m.

Ya, but id have to drop a permanent for it... and I can't drop creatures...

drop Goblin Electromancer for Delver of Secrets  Flip . Most spells you have cost 1 anyway.

October 10, 2012 10:42 p.m.

Delver screws with the curve. Plus im not that guy...
