Villains always get the best songs. Let the protagonists get a number about how sad they are that they don't know their place in life, and the love interests get some something chaste and yearning. But nothing beats the villain song for sheer epicness and memorableness. They're bad, they're evil, and they're loving (or going insane, or both) every second of it. And here, fully orchestrated, choreographed, and special effects-ed, is Nicol Bolas's.
Be Prepared for the sort of bombastic spells and over-the-top effects that I Go Looney for. To help get to your Friends on the Other Side of the mana curve, there's also a bunch of cards that copy or reduce mana costs, so you can get your Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap. Try It and See what you think, and if you have an Epiphany about a card to include, send it over! (Since this is a theme deck, I'm only really looking for Bolas-y cards and theatrical cards.) PS: Licorice Land
It’s self-indulgent, I admit, but I do like to watch my own symphony play itself out.
This is what glory looks like. As I desire, so it shall be. / There is no greater folly than standing against me. / All I ask is complete obedience. Even gods shall kneel. / This world's rightful fate is to lie under my heel.
Everything here exists or perishes at my whim. Including you, Gatewatch. / I had hoped for more from you, Jace. But I expected as much. / Your patheitc ideas lie in shambles, Planeswalker. Where / is your arrogant pride now? Did you not prepare?
The soul of this world is gone, Nissa, and I would gladly kill it again. / Birth and death are both reversible, and I control their chains. / Animist, crawling in the mud, you have no grounds to challenge me on. / Where will you run when I punish you with the very ground you flee on?
Fire? Is that your only trick, Chandra? Even at the Devastation Hour? / The essence of every world, every spell, and every thought is power. / Nothing else matters, because nothing else exists. I command the suns. / Your sparks and flares are less than nothing as the Hour comes.
I suppose you think you're more than mortal, a righteous paragon of purity, incorruptible. / Gideon, how easy it must be to play the protector when you think yourself untouchable. / How wrong you are. When faith fails, what's left but desperation? / You will fully understand fear when you discover it is the final thing you put your faith in.
All the power you have gathered for yourself, Liliana, I can take away. / No worthwhile reward is easily gained. I'm here to collect the debts you need to pay. / Your contract is in default. You belong to me now. Serve, or die. / I do as I choose with what is mine. And it is all mine. You are mine.
Do the innocent pay for the crimes of the guilty? Of course they do. That’s the fate / of the weak. And I will stand strongest as the multiverse's potentate. / My work here is complete. The people have done everything required of them. / This place has outlived its usefulness. Here it will lie, forgotten and condemned. /
Condemned, condemned, condemned, condemned...
