2016 time to revisit this deck —Aug. 7, 2016

after like 2 years i decided to come back to my old slippery friends.

i cut Keen Sense for Gryffs Boon. yesterday at GPT Lille i saw some1 play Bogles with Gryff's Boon and i thought 'yeah thats some great extra evasion'

i am not going to focus alot on this deck or anyting and it is NOWHERE as well positioned as Gonorrhea in the modern meta BUT even after ~3 years it is still a rogue deck that can be alot of fun to play.

Hey, love the deck! Big fan of Reid Duke, as well. :)

My biggest problem with the deck is that the lands and sideboard make up $650 of the entire $850 price tag. Of course, that's just how Modern works... but it still makes me sad.

Have fun with the deck! I'll be over here playing my casual bogles deck.

yeah thats a huge problem :/ it took me forever to get all the cards. traded most of them so it was a little cheaper. i made a budget version thats around 160$ iirc, but of course it is not as fast as this version. it is still fun to play in casual, have a look if you like

Yeah ofc thats in the the description. Thats why there are not only cmc1 auras in there. But its still a huge threat. Good thing it hits each player and cmc1 is the cornerstone of modern so ppl are careful playing it.

you can also put in sideboard 3 different spells that are destroying artifacts or enchantments (two of them with cmc 2!). i like your deck very much but i also like hating and lockdown decks!

yeah as stated in the description Nature's Claim and Qasali Pridemage is a good SB plan against chalice. you just use the one that's not locked down (three options is too much; theres more important stuff to answer). as rare as it is (in my local meta) I just put in 1 MB cmc3 aura (that at the same time also helps getting trample/LF within the first 10 handcards)... but I am ready to make SB changes any time if needed.

actually fast infect is much more of a threat than chalice.

<3 who doesnt love hate&lockdown ;)

Great deck although I would rather have 3 Naturalize than 3 Nature's Claim

if you're running heaths and hills you should be splashing red for madcap skills, now that that's a thing again :p

You can run Naturalize over Nature's Claim if you like, but its a tick slower and there is no synergy with Spellskite . maybe your opponent doesn't expect you to play a cmc2 artifact removal, but thats the only upside imo.

I would not recomend a third color, it can slow down the deck in the beginning (and speed is everything here). Also you dont really want to crack your fetchland except when you reaaallly have to.. you want it to sit there in case you have to fetch and sac Dryad Arbor

I also have a deck similar to this. I recommend Silhana Ledgewalker as another hexproof creature, and Alpha Authority to put on the Kor Spiritdancer to protect it from annoying removal

Those are nice cards but too slow for competitive play. Cmc2 creature wont hit the board fast enough to establish dominance and the mana you use to protect a card draw creature should be used to further boost the bogle.

I don't get why this is so popular on here... it's just Reid Duke's deck and unless you're him and I'm ignorant of that this is just boring and old news. btw, silhana ledgewalker is very useful because Ratchet Bomb is a card :p

its reid dukes idea, just as every single real competitive tournament deck ppl play is some1 elses idea; basically everything thats not a weird homebrew. this deck list isnt very close to his original decklist (yeah not much more than 5-6 different slots and sideboard but thats pretty much always the case). it doesnt seem too popular on tappedout compared to other common MDN decks. Cmc2 creature wont hit the board fast enough to establish dominance: this means cards like silhana or Bassara Tower Archer can be countered when you go 2nd and also cant attack before turn3. thats way to slow and way to much of a gamble. but feel free to test it. Ratchet Bomb will only destroy all auras attached to the bogle with the right CMC and leave the bogle intact as long as theres an aura with totem armor on it (because it resolves at the same time), also its an activated ability on a artifact... 3/4 of all SB spells answer that. pretty much explained in description already <3

You seem very knowledgeable in this area, so I come to ask for your guidance on my Enchantress's of the Forest of deck. I do not know my local meta since I don't get to go often and need help coming up with a sideboard that would be a general toolbox until I can figure out what I'm up against. Also, I do not have a high budget, so, keeping fetchlands out is ideal for me. Please send help my way?

vanmatej it's a good deck to build a budget version of. Semi-Budget Bogles plays out almost as good as the Non-Budget Version.

Yupp. And tbh for non competitive matches a budget version can even be more fun because they are not as linear
