Jace, the Mind Sculptor? —July 29, 2013

Thinking of removing 1 Island and 1 Traumatize! Then adding 2 Jace, Memory Adept!

What do you think about that?

The_Raven says... #1

Matsi883; are you so sure that Tome Scour is better than Mesmeric Orb ?

July 20, 2013 3:08 a.m.

Matsi883 says... #2

Fior a mill deck that wants to win very quickly, Mesmeric Orb does nothing to affect the game immediately and is not that good against decks that don't contribute much to the board. Tome Scour mills 10% of their library on turn 1, whiile Mesmeric Orb mills 10% by turn 4.

Okay Matsi883. I will try to run Tome Scour over Increasing Confusion .

Thanks for the help! :D

The sideboard could do with some work. What decks are you wanting to beat?

July 21, 2013 2:44 p.m.

The_Raven says... #5

LeaPlath; I'm afraid of milling Emrakul/Kozilek. Mill them, whole GY into libary. Therefore Ravenous Trap . Also it's good vs Elixir of Immortality .

Also Echoing Truth is good if i face a token deck. And also good against quick infect decks.

Telemin Performance is good if i face a non-creature deck. It can actually mill a whole deck.

Psychic Spiral is good against other mill decks.

What are you thinking that should be changed in my sideboard?

Which is best - Increasing Confusion , Mesmeric Orb or Tome Scour ?

Tome Scour is consistent. You also want Snapcaster Mage though.

July 21, 2013 4:10 p.m.

The_Raven says... #7

LeaPlath; I would LOVE Snapcaster Mage but this deck is a budget deck :D. They are sooooooo expensive!

I will go with the Tome Scour then! Thanks!

Should something in the sideboard be changed or what?

Thi is my sideboard for my modern mill deck, although mine is espar.

3x Hurkyl's Recall (for affinity matchups) 3x Leyline of the Void (stops cards from ever entering the graveyard (no shuffle in trigger from the eldrazi for example)) 3x Mindbreak Trap (storm decks also works well against infect decks) 3x Slaughter Pact (stops twin combo and hurts zoo as well) 3x Torpor Orb (stops twin combo, and pod decks, also shuts down snapcaster for control matchups)

i'd say, Jace, Memory Adept over jace beleren. MILL is more control than aggro (not counting legacy mill of coarse) so i would place more counter spells and removal cards in the deck instead of creatures. example; Cancel (Counterspell if it's legal in modern...) Vapor Snag . i really don't know much about playing mono blue mill though... and like i said before; Jace's Archivist and Jace's Erasure combo. with a few more draw spell in your deck for example Pilfered Plans and the new card Opportunity just recommendations!!! :D

I would go and run Surgical Extraction and Relic of Progenitus to hit Eldrazi and fight graveyard decks. Torpor Orb fights ETB decks like Birthing Pod and shuts down a lot of value creatures. Echoing Truth is fine Dispel for fighting control decks/burn decks.

The_Raven says... #11

LeaPlath and AzrielBarakiel; So my SB should be like this or what?

3x Dispel (Counter/Burn/Non-creature decks)

3x Echoing Truth (Token and Infect)

3x Torpor Orb (ETB decks? Don't know what it is... Want to tell me?)

3x Psychic Spiral (Other mill decks)

3x Ravenous Trap /Relic of Progenitus /Tormod's Crypt (Eldrazi and GY decks)

dvizzier; Jace, Memory Adept is EXPENSIVE!! This is budget! I will put some Dispel in SB. So i always can swap them out! :D

Jace's Archivist and Jace's Erasure ... Hm.... Hm... Hm... I... I'm not sure about this combo... But thanks for your help!

Psychic Spiral is bad. There aren't very many other Mill decks in the format. It is 5 mana and bad so too expensive to main deck.

I would go.2 Dispel3 Echoing Truth2 Torpor Orb (Fights Birthing Pod and Splinter Twin decks)3 Relic of Progenitus (cantrip is important and stops Eldrazi)2 Surgical Extraction3 flex slots which you can tune to your meta. I would personally suggest Spellskite.

Jace, memory adept is 5-6 dollars now because of it being reprinted in m14???

July 23, 2013 1:19 a.m.

The_Raven says... #14

LeaPlath; Surgical Extraction is like 4 dollars! 4 dollars for a sideboard card? No way man. I can't choose which cards to remove with Relic of Progenitus . So I think that Tormod's Crypt is better.

So i'm thinking;

4x Dispel

4x Tormod's Crypt

3x Torpor Orb

4x Echoing Truth

Thoughts?

dvizzier; I did not know that. Thanks! I'm now going to get my hands on them!

Hello, you could also check this out for milling fast while getting your Lands.

Always remember that you should be the one they will have to counter. :)

Modern/Legacy B/U Miller Deck - a budget B/U miller deck.

You could add Pithing Needle on Side against Elixirs. And making your deck mono color will be difficult to handle against Reanimator deck or other decks that has Iona, Shield of Emeria .

I have already tried my deck on a tourney and it somehow survive because I side a Grafdigger's Cage ,Torpor Orb ,Pithing Needle , and a Tormod's Crypt

Yeah I put Dream Twist because it has a flashback and an Instant.I'm still waiting for someone to sell me Glimpse the Unthinkable that's why I just use Dream Twist .

Glimpse the Unthinkable /Dream Twist will suffice the milling.

I'm not a Planeswalker dependent that's why I put only 1 Jace Beleren . And I put my Echoing Truth on my Fire Breeze Storm Deck.
