TimeTwisted Tournament additions —Dec. 8, 2019

Cuts: Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth, Tithe Taker, Squandered Resources

Adds: Exotic Orchard, Emergence Zone, Veil of Summer

During the 7-8th of December this year I got to play in the 3rd TimeTwisted cEDH tournament online through webcams, and I wanted to test a couple of cards at the last minute as well as fix the landbase a tiny bit. I took out Urborg after realizing that with Cradle, Scavenger Grounds, Phyrexian Tower, Cavern of Souls, Boseiju and all the basics you sometimes can screw up your openers due to not having enough multicolored sources. I tried remedying that by adding Exotic Orchard, a rainbow land that doesn't ping us to keep Nauseams juicier, but also allows us to cast opposing cards we might've stolen with Praetor's Grasp.

The real additions here however were Emergence Zone and Veil of Summer. Veil's power as a functional 1-mana Cryptic Command in many situations has given it a lot of fame in the MtG scene, and even though it can't be used to offensively interact with our opponents, it's power level in this deck is still off the charts. Emergence Zone is a wilder inclusion; something I wanted to test after finding a decent land-tutoring 1-drop in Elvish Reclaimer. Emergence Zone is mostly a card that sees play in something like The Gitrog Monster, but here with Necropotence and Ad Nauseam lines winning at instant speed becomes actually possible! Bonus points for winning on your own end step after putting 30+ cards into your hand via Necro, something I haven't gotten to do yet at least. We'll see how Zone fares in the long run, but Veil is definitely a mainstay for now.
