Card draw issues —Jan. 13, 2019

So I took this to FNM to try out. It was pretty successful! However I did run into problems with card draw. I found myself running low on steam on turn 7ish.

I'm looking into solutions for that, but I'm not sure what to cut..

Any suggestions on good card draw and what to remove would be appreciated!

Deadeye Navigator is great in here when paired with your deepglow skate. Captain Sisay can find any walker you want. Archmage Ascension is great with Atraxa’s ability. Also look at the possibility of using more walkers that produce token creatures for blockers or fodder for Circle of Despair which will protect the walkers. Current errata for the card says any target.

Hey KayneMarco thanks so much for your suggestions! (sorry I took so long to reply!)

I love Deadeye Navigator as a card but my concern is that it only synergizes with Deepglow Skate and Djeru, With Eyes Open and isn't very useful other than that. What do you think?

I can't argue with Captain Sisay I'll try and get a hold of her!

Archmage Ascension is interesting. I'll see what I can do!

Circle of Despair is incredible! I had no idea! That's exactly the kind of effect I've been looking for, I'll make fit it in somehow!

Do you have any suggestions on what I could remove?

The deadeye navigator only needs to synergize with the 2 you mentioned but a couple other cards it would synergize with really well as well are Spike Weaver and Knight-Captain of Eos. They give you fog effects to protect your walkers. The kind of effects you’re looking for. The archmage ascension only needs to get 1 counter put on it and you can let atraxa and other proliferate effects do the rest.

Cards you could take out:

  • Raff Capashen
  • sphere of safety
  • beacon of tomorrow
  • karns temporal sundering
  • savor the moment

I know you have an xtra turn thing going on but your magistrates scepter can go infinite with contagion engine and Pir, Imaginative Rascal getting you all the turns you could want.

Damn good. It’s amazing the way the spike weaver or knight captain of eos can hand you a game. Played my supertroopers deck last night and because of the weaver and atraxa continuously giving it counters they asked if they could concede because I had them locked down with the weaver. None of them were drawing into any way of getting rid of it.

I have a question for you though: I took a look at your Supertroopers deck and noticed you only have 35 lands! Does that work well for you? I'm wondering if my 39 lands might be too many.

MikeLaserbeam: That land count hasn’t been an issue yet with all the rocks I’m running as well. I get enough lands to cast the rocks.
