Atraxa's SuperAvengers!

Commander / EDH* GWUB

JehuBarranco

Lots of changes! My Atraxa deck started out as a +1/+1 abuse deck, but after playing it multiple times at my LGS, I came to realize that it didn’t work. The deck relied too much on needing multiple creatures on the battlefield at the same time to make anything happen. And I found that there were often too many board wipes and creature kill/exile that I was often left with useless creatures with nothing to interact with.

SO! I have made a bunch of changes and decided to try out a Superfriends variant. My inspiration for this deck was fellow Tapped Out user Enral’s “Superfriends with Super Benefits” deck that I will be working on making my own variant and testing out sometime soon. I am always looking for suggestions on how to make my deck stronger and more effective, so any feedback is ALWAYS appreciated.

The main goal of this deck is to use Deepglow Skate to continuously double the counters on my Planeswalkers. That plus continuously tapping and untapping The Chain Veil over and over again, I can ultimate any number of Planeswalker infinitely. The main way to abuse Deepglow Skate is to continuously use Proteus Staff to send it to the bottom of the deck and reveal the top card of my library until I reveal a creature card, then put that card on the battlefield. Well, since Deepglow Skate is the ONLY creature in the deck, I keep putting Deepglow Skate on the battlefield and doubling my counters. But, another important part of this combo is, I can put the rest of the cards in my library back IN ANY ORDER. So I get to decide what my next few draws will be. That’s very important!

Anyway, I first need to use Proteus Staff to send a token or my commander “to the bottom of my deck.” Tokens will cease to exist, or Atraxa will go back to the command zone. I reveal cards until I reveal my one creature and put Deepglow Skate onto the battlefield. I will have to activate it again in order to arrange my deck in the order I want to draw my cards. I want to put Tamiyo, Field Researcher on the top, with Ugin, the Spirit Dragon, Tezzeret the Seeker, and Doubling Season as the next three. Following those three, I need Rings of Brighthearth, The Chain Veil, and Basalt Monolith.

So I will draw Tamiyo, Field Researcher and cast her. I can then activate Proteus Staff to send Deepglow Skate to the bottom of my library and back onto the battlefield to double my counters. Tamiyo will be ready to ultimate, allowing me to draw Ugin, the Spirit Dragon, Tezzeret the Seeker, and Doubling Season; plus giving my her emblem that allows me to play nonland cards without paying for them.

So I next cast Doubling Season (for free) and then Ugin, the Spirit Dragon and Tezzeret the Seeker (also for free). Ugin will enter with double counters thanks to Doubling Season and automatically be ready to ultimate. So I will draw my 7 cards (Rings of Brighthearth, The Chain Veil, Basalt Monolith, and 4 cards of my choosing). All are free to cast.

I now have access to unlimited mana by comboing Rings of Brighthearth and Basalt Monolith and use that mana to activate The Chain Veil and use Tezzeret the Seeker’s +1 to keep untapping The Chain Veil infinite times. That allows me to use Ugin, the Spirit Dragon’s +2 to kill players.

I know that I need to add a few tutor spells and some more graveyard retrieval (incase someone takes out a part of my combo), but I was wondering if there is any cards that anyone thinks could add to the efficiency of the deck? I was excited to add Mordenkainen to the deck. I feel like he is useful both early game by filtering my hand, and late game. If I add him to the final combo, I can basically exchange my hand with my library and play almost my entire hand for free with Tamiyo’s emblem. My goal early game is to slow my opponents down with counterspells and board wipes until I tutor for Proteus Staff and get things rolling. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks to looking at my deck!
