+1 for this level of cruelty. Tainted Strike and Phyresis.

Thanks for the +1 Quicksilver! My only issue i feel is its too slow at the moment. Need to speed it up. And yes Tainted Strike will be going in. Idk about Phyresis, more along the lines of idk what the cut will be for it yet

Elvish Spirit Guide and Exploration are two ways to speed up casting spells. Bred for the Hunt and Rhystic Study accelerate card draw.

Ive got a rhystic, Bred for the Hunt seems like itll fit in here nicely. Thanks!

@Randomlad

Swarmlord is in my maybe board and i completely forgot about ichor rats. Will have to find cuts for them both. Only problem im having now with a 4 color deck, the choice of cuts and add ins

@KailDaemon

i'd say cut Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth since your black is limited.

Glad to see a deck built upon a premise with Atraxa far more flavorful, affordable, and fun than Superfriends.

Here are some recommendations:

Corrupted Conscience Most infect creatures suck. For one more mana than this effect should be worth, make a creature that doesn't suck a vehicle for perfection.

Flesh-Eater Imp If you're going the token route, which I see you're playing around with by including Ghave and Plaguemaw Beast, this will be one of the best infectors around.

Strionic Resonator for the extra Proliferations, and every extra turn spell you've got. Yes, even Savor the Moment.

Otherwise, not sure what else to recommend. +1 for making an on-theme deck with Atraxa!

Thanks for the advice man and the +1! Will definitely incorporate some of these cards in the build

I like the deck although I would run a couple more tutors i.e. Diabolic Intent and Cruel Tutor to be able to get what you want when you want it but that's just me other than that you get a +1 from me

@Sergal

Too slow, if im dropping the engine im gonna want to use it that turn before someone blows it up. And ill usually be set up enough to where i wont need it by the time i have 10 mana. Plus the Inexorable Tide is just better.

How willing are you to go with Atraxa-Infect. I say this because as it currently stands, this is not Atraxa-Infect in its purest phyrexian form.

Oh, swap Void Shatter with Corrupted Resolve. It will be better than Counterspell many times :P

I also have been working on atraxa infect. It seems to slow at the moment and stalling seems like it needs to happen. Flying infect creatures is what my deck is craving with a set of pillow fort cards. Otherwise the hate from others will wind up getting you. I think she will be getting hated on anyway no matter the deck. But I need all the infect creatures I can get. Then pillow fort and grind

Azor's Elocutors seems like a fun choice (I might be tempted to try myself), but because the wincon only occurs at your upkeep, it seems like it could potentially work out poorly as a massive aggro magnet.

With Atraxa, the Vivid lands (Vivid Creek, Vivid Grove, Vivid Marsh, Vivid Meadow), Aether Hub, Mirrodin's Core, and Tendo Ice Bridge will always tap for any color you need. Also, Llanowar Reborn, the depletion counter lands--Hickory Woodlot, Peat Bog, Remote Farm, and Saprazzan Skerry--and the storage counter lands--Calciform Pools, Dreadship Reef, and Saltcrusted Steppe--seem good here.

Also, forgot Gemstone Mine in that list. Also, not sure why Inkmoth Nexus isn't in here (budget perhaps?). My personal suggestions for land cuts would be Reliquary Tower, Shizo, Death's Storehouse, Tolaria West, Vault of the Archangel, and Gaea's Cradle. None of them play well with the heavy counters strategy, nor do they fix your mana. Honestly not sure about Cradle because it can give you a buttton of mana, and it looks like you have the creatures to justify it, but it will always be one color of mana since I didn't see any filtering. Opal Palace could also be a thing? Also, why no Deepglow Skate? Now a question for you: How do you feel about the checklands (Glacial Fortress and friends)? They work really well with shocklands, but you're only running 10 basics, and no guarantee you'll have the right basic. I imagine fetchlands help a lot? Would you still be able to play the checklands if you didn't have the fetches?

@bioplay

You brought up valid points and honestly its not a budget thing. Just didnt take into consideration about the counter lands that Atraxa could proliferate. I made all appropriate changes and it speed uP the deck TREMENDOUSLY. Thank you so much.

Ive been so focused on my Breya deck i kinda have been putting Atraxa on the back burner

Atraxia makes this guy so good Odric, Lunarch Marshal + 1. He is going in mine. I forgot about him.

What about something like Cultivator of Blades? Since she starts with counters and beefs all your other creatures up? Don't know how well she would fit but I thought it might be worth bringing her up.

Its like a mini Pathbreaker Ibex or a Craterhoof Behemoth...maybe but im not sure cuz mid-late game ill be more focused on the poison counter stacking rather than attacking. At that stage combat gets less effective the longer a game goes on.

Glad I could be of service. Just some things I was thinking of for when I build my own Atraxa deck. (I'm prolly gonna try Superfriends though, cuz I'm that whore--not that I have the money for it...) You never did answer my question though--how good are the checklands in a deck that runs so few basics? I imagine the shock+fetch combos help a lot? Would they still be playable without the fetches?

KailDaemon says... #23

They would if i had the right check for what i have in the field. However i took the checks out for the counter lands

Lands like Calciform Pools + Mage-Ring Network + Saprazzan Cove are probably better here than with any other commander...I would think every land that builds up storage counters for mana in your colors is worth running. Building up to 2 counters per turn on each storage land is pretty good. It's like on top of everything else Atraxa has mana flare built in, just for you. It seems much more impactful than having lands that need you to continuously add depletion counters to them just so they don't stop functioning.

Triumph of the Hordes seems weird since basically every creature already has infect. I would think a better creature pump spell, like maybe a permanent based anthem effect would be better suited to be able to take advantage of the fact that you basically already "paid" for infect for your team. I think Beastmaster Ascension could be cool since you will be able to charge it up with Atraxa.

November 2, 2016 1:14 p.m.

KailDaemon says... #25

I agree with the lands

As for Triumph of the Hordes it is a buff spell plus it gives all my infect creatures trample. Also all the tokens i can create become 2/2 trampling infect death squads. Its a game winner and of the better ones in a deck that goes wide. Yes i already have plenty of infect creatures but giving them +1/+1 and trample is just too good not to run, makes them even more lethal.

Beastmaster Ascension was in the initial build but keeps flip floping out of the list for ideas. It will probably end up going in and being taken out multiple times till i get the deck tweaked how i want it
