Maybeboard

Atraxa creature focused +1/+1 counter and token build.

This is an optimized deck meant to be highly competitive.

Please note that Reyhan, Last of the Abzan and Ishai, Ojutai Dragonspeaker are not designed to be replacements for Atraxa as partner commanders and have been removed from the build. There are better creatures I chose to run in the 99 and putting them as the commander would decrease the value of other cards we are running such as Hatred and Odric, Lunarch Marshal.

Game Plan: The idea behind this deck is to play some decent low mana cost creatures during the early game, then quickly overwhelm your opponents around turn 6 or 7, sometimes as early as 5 though.

Key Cards and Combos:

Atraxa, Praetors' Voice + Hatred - Take out the most troublesome deck in your playgroup as early as possible. Usually I choose the opponent who is playing blue, especially if they are tapped out.

Doubling Season - Just because we arn't running a superfriends deck doesn't mean we can't put in some additional win conditions. Drop out Liliana, Dreadhorde General or Ajani, Caller of the Pride while this is out and you have pretty much won the game.

Archangel of Thune + Spike Feeder - Infinite +1/+1 counters on your creatures and infinite life.

Expropriate = Because why not?

Craterhoof Behemoth + Finale of Devastation - If you can cast Finale for 12 mana with just 5 or 6 creatures out, that is good enough to win games.

Tutors:

I recommend Vampiric Tutor and Demonic Tutor. If you can get an Imperial Seal, throw that in place too. Recruiter of the Guard is very handy in this deck, often allowing you to fetch up a nice X cost creature.

Land Base, fixing, and Ramp:

We are fetching original duels and shocklands. Make substitutions where necessary. The horizon lands work nicely in this build as well, as we are often playing our lands out of the graveyard.

Gaea's Cradle - I cannot emphasize how necessary this card is. If you have to get Growing Rites instead, do so.

Crucible of Worlds - Always run alongside fetchlands. Never play a land from your hand when you can get the colors you needed by playing a fetch from the graveyard.

Copy Artifact - I have never once been unhappy to draw this card. Early game we can copy a Sol Ring, late game we often copy something like a Blightsteel Colossus.

Card Draw:

With your tutors, it is likely you will end up with either your Sylvan Library, Rhystic Study, or Phyrexian Arena. This is good enough and a bonus if you have your Reliquary Tower out.

Removal:

Use Cyclonic Rift as your only board wipe spell. That is good enough.

Use Path to Exile and Swords to Plowshares for your creature removal Anguished Unmaking is for other trouble cards.

Mana Drain and Dovin's Veto are our counterspells. They are among the most effective in the game. Make substitutions as your budget allows.
