Athreos no longer guides the souls of the dead to rest. Instead, he and his legion of Shadowborn apostles are using the power of death to create an army of demons, zombies and spirits to take over the plane of Theros once and for all.

This deck is basically making the most out of sacrificing Shadowborn Apostles, by getting a demon onto the battlefield as well as abusing the 'whenever another creature dies' ability, to make the most out of their sacrifice.
