One of my oldest two commander decks. It started out as the Commander 2014 "Forged in Stone" deck. I upped the count on equipment, and added in several ways to find equipment, slowly morphing the deck into a control/toolbox deck built around equipment.

After multiple revisions, I got tired of being unable to play non-white equipment (read Elbrus, the Binding Blade  ), and decided I wanted to find a multi-color commander that fit the deck's gameplan. I needed at least Black and White, so it quickly came down to Mardu vs Esper, as both red and blue brought significant artifact support to the table. Sydri, Galvanic Genius ended up being too perfect. She was a low cost creature, so It was easy to get her out and equip her the same turn. She could also turn a board with multiple equipment and no bodies (fairly common post board-wipe) into a threat that couldtake advantage of the clean board. When transforming it, I realized I had a small section of artifacts and enchantments built to support Nahiri as my commander. Now that I didn't alwaya have a planeswalker available, these wouldn't be consistently valuable, but I still wanted them for when I managed to draw Nahiri. This led me to dedicate a portion of the deck to a Superfriends sub-theme (which could also insulate me a bit against heavy artifact hate).

With the release of Commander 2016, the deck both got access to red (Godo, Ghirapur AEther Grid, and Saheeli had been perfect, but off color) and got a pair of commanders that worked perfectly for the deck's plan. Unless they print a 5-color legend too perfect for the deck, this is likely its last major overhaul. Green doesn't have any cards that feel like they must be in the deck.

(2017-08-29) sigh Then they went and printed Nazahn, Revered Bladesmith. Now I'm a liar and there are totally Green cards I really want. Not quite enough that I'm doing anything yet, but if a truly on-theme 5-color legend comes out, I may end up just making this a 5-color deck. Time will tell.

Originally the 2014 Nahiri, the Lithomancer precon deck, which I adjusted to have some more planeswaker support, giving it a split theme between superfriends and equipment. Over the years it's gone through several changes of command to add more colors and grab more cards within those themes outside of mono-white. (The name is basic on the Atelier series of video games made by Gust, stylized to present that this is a workshop with Nahiri handling the planeswalker subtheme while the other partner handles the equipment theme). The combination of the themes lets the deck start somewhat aggressive with an early source of commander damage that scales throughout the game as well as a powerful midrange game thanks to the card advantage and interaction from the various planeswalkers.

Synergy Packages - There are a couple of gear packages in here that allow a couple overall good cards to take a broader role. While plenty of cards in the deck allow the ability to find specific equipment, Stonehewer Giant can do this at instant speed and immediately put the sword into play equipped. This allows equipment like Heartseeker to act as tutorable kill spells or Pariah's Shield to turn any creature into a Spore Frog. This works exceptionally well with Sunforger, which then allows access to a selection of very impactful instants, including counterspells, |non-creature removal, and psuedo-overruns. Put together, this allows this deck to play a lot of value and interaction in the late game.
