Astral Ponza: A Theory on the Emancipation of Land

Modern BRGW Jank Land Destruction Midrange RGW (Naya) Theme/Gimmick

The Earth and all the planets are, in essence, hunks of land drifting around in space. This is a fact. And from this fact, I have derived a conclusion: that by confining these magnificent biomes to the environs of a table, we wizards are attempting to limit the boundless realm of the cosmos, a task which is not only impossible but an insult to science. Thus, I have decided to build a deck which would free these detained lands of their earthly shackles, to let them fly to the heavens and far beyond the restraints of our pathetic imaginations...

And this is where I will conclude my journey. This deck is what I have found to be the most efficient usage of the celestial powers of the Astral Drift, a phenomenon which can only be seen when looking directly above and to the left of the event horizon of a supermassive black hole. Through it, we can liberate the lands of all opponents of science, and finally bring peace to this realm of eternal warfare.

I will now define our procedure.

First, we must create mana; it is an unfortunate thing, but the use of lands will be necessary for this step. But fear not! Due to the presence of various alternatives, we will be able to use as few lands as possible.

Next, we need to find the Astral Drift. Since black holes do not emit light, it is very difficult to find their event horizons, which is necessary for locating the Drift. However, by cycling through our sources and drawing diagrams of the x-rays black holes emit, we will eventually detect a Drift.

Once we've obtained all the required pieces, we will be able to create the mechanism which will utilize the Astral Drift's power to its fullest potential. Ironically (or perhaps it is the most fitting of all?), this involves the use of certain lands.

Hard Lock/Infinite Combos:

There are a few ways to set up an infinite Drift combo. They are as follows:

Eternal Witness + Plow Under + Infinite Drift Combo

The Witness of Eternities, who has seen the birth and death of an inestimable number of universes, is the only one who is capable of setting these hapless lands free. It is only after finding peace within oneself and locating the Drift can one become worthy of the Witness's presence. Once enlightenment has been achieved, one must carry out a certain ritual--which involves various farming equipment--to begin the liberation of lands.

This infinite land and draw lock has many moving parts, but it isn't the type of combo that one assembles as quickly as possible, like those savages who only know how to play with their food; rather, this is the end game, the inevitable win condition. The entire rest of the deck is built to bridge the gap between the early turns and this Heavenly Combo.

Acidic Slime + Infinite Drift Combo

This also lets you liberate a land every turn, even if the methodology is somewhat less... civilized. Eventually, your opponent will have none and you'll be able to free any land they draw at the end step.

Thragtusk + Infinite Drift Combo

Gain 5 and make a 3/3 Beast every turn. This will win the game vs most aggressive hooligans, though you may not be able to liberate their lands this way.

An explanation of the Tilling Treefolk Drift Combo and Eternal Witness Drift Combo

With the Treefolk combo, you use one land to flicker the creature and the other to flicker Tilling Treefolk, getting both lands back on the end step. With the Eternal Witness combo, you get two flicker triggers every time you cycle Astral Drift with an Astral Drift on field, which means you can flicker an Eternal Witness to loop it infinitely. Both of these infinites can either hard lock an opponent's creature from attacking or let you flicker another one of your creatures every turn (Acidic Slime, for example).

Multiple Astral Drifts

If, after a certain time of enlightened existence, one decides to begin his pilgrimage across the Great Void of Empty Nothingness, one may encounter multiple Drifts. If this is the case for you, take the initiative and bring them unto yourself, for your efficiency will be doubled! The world of the Drift is a fantastic thing, rife with strange mysteries and stranger truths; to pass up on that unparalleled potential which can shake dimensions and rescue entire planes from savage slavery would be akin to that of applying sour fruit to Italian flatbread! In less analogous terms: unacceptable, and a heinous act of treason!!!

In this way, I believe we will finally give our lands freedom. Spread the word! The Revolution has come!
