This is a Simic Kraken, Leviathan, Octopus, Serpent deck built to ramp and drop crazy sea creatures as soon as possible.

I suppose I'd call this deck semi-casual as I don't run tutors and I don't have a lot of counterspells but it's got decent potential with the right threats at the right time.

Freed from the Real and Pemmin's Aura allow the deck to go infinite Green mana when paired with Arixmethes, Slumbering Isle or Gyre Engineer but that's not the deck's intention given that it can't really do anything with the mana except cast a huge Genesis Wave.

There are other Krakens/Leviathans/Octopi/Serpents that I've failed to include here. Kederekt Leviathan is pretty neat but I've got enough one-sided permanent bounce as is, I feel. Inkwell Leviathan is neat too but just doesn't "do" enough to justify the slot when I've already got big bodies with better effects on them. Original Leviathan is just bad. I'm sorry, there's too many hoops to jump though with it. Sure, you could Pemmin's Aura or Freed from the Real it but that's a lot of work. Simic Skyswallower isn't terrible but we've got access to better.

Sharktocrab can't leverage +1/+1 counters in this deck so, sadly, it had to be cut. Ditto for Octoprophet. I loved the flavor but I needed more big stuff and less deck shenanigans. Elder Deep-Fiend has too much Eldrazi in it for my tastes and detracts from the theme rather than adds. Feel free to put it back in though in case you disagree.

River Serpent is just bad. Same for Striped Riverwinder.

Tromokratis is entertaining but, again, I think we can do better.

Other ways you could go with the deck is strap a bunch of disgusting swords (like Sword of Fire and Ice or Sword of Feast and Famine) onto these innocent creatures of the sea and try and Voltron out a win. I feel like these creatures stand on their own, though. Helm of the Host might not be a terrible idea, nor might copying/repeating some of the better Enters the Battlefield triggers like Scourge of Fleets but I didn't build it with enough of those kinds of effects to properly leverage that type of strategy.

Upgrades would include throwing more money at the problem. A Misty Rainforest would be nice and the deck is a shoe in for the tried and true mana rocks such as Mana Crypt, Mana Vault, and Grim Monolith. My paper deck swaps the Tropical Island for a Misty Rainforest because do I look like I'm made of money?
