This deck had started out as a Thassa, God of the Sea deck built around controlling the board and playing large sea creatures to smash my opponents with. The only downside to this original deck was ramping in mono-blue and the overall speed of the deck. Arixmethes, Slumbering Isle was the perfect replacement commander to helm the deck. Arixmethes grants access to , the best color in Magic for land ramp and Arixmethes itself is ramp in the command zone. also allows the us of mass trample effects to help destroy the opponents!
The strategy for the deck is pretty straightforward and simple; ramp and trample! Early game is all about ramping and playing cheap value pieces like Thassa, God of the Sea and Garruk's Uprising. Mid to late game is about playing large creatures, putting together sea creature synergies (like Serpent of Yawning Depths and Spawning Kraken), and trampling through opponents. Counter spells and protection spells like Stubborn Denial and Heroic Intervention help stop opponents from disrupting the board state.
Pemmin's Aura and Freed from the Real -Pairing these with Arixmethes, Slumbering Isle can create infinite or paired with Krosan Restorer to produce infinite mana from lands. Using the mana on a Blue Sun's Zenith targeting our opponents will knock them out of the game.

Shaman of Forgotten Ways -This card generates mana to play creatures early and mid game while DESTROYING lifegain and pillowfort strategies in the late game. Activating this before attacking is one of if not the most satisfying finisher in the deck.

Thassa, God of the Sea -Powerful early and late game piece. Scrying each turn and granting creatures with unblockable is really strong, especially with a 12/12 commander!

Overwhelming Stampede -Playing this with a decent board state and Arixmethes out will give your creatures +12/+12 and trample!
