New to magic, does anyone know why it isn't legal in modern? The 3 cards it says aren't legal are not listed as banned.

They weren't printed in a modern legal set. Also, Disenchant belongs in the sideboard, and an angels deck is usually to slow to be viable.

If you look in the bottom right corner, you may notice a list of banned cards. The cards that are banned in this format (modern) are: Sol Ring, Thran Dynamo and Swords to Plowshares. (These are pretty much commander only cards)

As for a replacement for Swords to Plowshares try Journey to Nowhere or Oblivion Ring.

Might I recommend Defy Death? Also, I would recommend an Akroma, Angel of Wrath and Luminarch Ascension for an additional win con

So if I picked the versions of these cards from more modern sets it wouldn't say banned?

Also, how do sideboards work? Is that like, edit the deck of the fly depending on your opponent?

Oh I see... well I had heard people use Sol Ring and Thran Dynamo in modern... so I am confused. What do people use for Mana Ramp?

People only use those cards in commander. For mana ramp in white, you have to splash green for something like Birds of Paradise, Noble Hierarch, or Avacyn's Pilgrim. Hierarch is crazy expensive tho

Sideboards are 15 cards that you don't play with, but you can swap cards in and out between rounds.

They are viable, but you would definitely need to slow down the game to get there. The cards are banned because they give too much mana ramp. Someone could play huge cards really early, and that is not fair to the lower mana cost decks. I have an enchantment angel deck that I use, making use of 4 Oblivion Rings and 4 Journey to Nowhere. Without it you would be murdered before you get creatures on the board.

If you wanted to pursue this, you could adopt my strategy with lots of enchantments. Removal to make CREATURES!!

Alternatively, you could add in red and run low cost creatures to protect you in the early game. You could also add in some red and white angels, there are quite a few of those.

Although seeing your strategy it seems like you appear to be quite new at this. Most of these creatures are really, really powerful, but both costly in the wallet and in mana. Usually people include 2-4 angels at most because if you where to get a few angels on the battlefield you would likely win anyways.

Those are all the game types sol ring is legal in. You may notice that modern is not listed.

I see, alright then so I dont have many options for mana ramp then? Artifacts etc?

Mana ramp is considered to a green staple. Other colors have little for ramp. I make use of Azorius Cluestone and other clustones as well as Chalice of Immortality both of which are modern legal.

You could also think outside the box and go for Plasm Capture.

As for green Explosive Vegetation is a favorite.

You could make use of Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx which is another that I use in my angel deck.

Ultimately, you should think of including another color in this deck. Its just too hard to do with only one color. You could also think of adding in humans if you wish to maintain the mono white. Its just not really possible without holding out for turns. You need one of the following for viability.

  1. You add in red and make use of cheap red creatures to hold out until you cast angels.

  2. You add in cheap mana cost white human cards to hold out until you cast angels.

  3. You add in green and add in creature mana as well as ramp. Avacyn's Pilgrim

  4. You add in blue and ton of enchantments to hold out

Those are pretty much your options.

Its looking better already though!

Gisela, the Broken BladeBruna, the Fading Light

Archangel of Tithes isnt as good as the card Ghostly Prison.

Raise the Alarm would be a huge help and might actually make this viable.

Entreat the Angels could be considered. Nice thought on Terminus, I would main board it though.

Some hexproff might be nice at least on sideboard. Aegis of the Gods

I will leave the rest to you, it seems like your getting it now. Ask if you need any more ideas.

Great suggestions man I am mulling things over with a few other cards.

December 4, 2017 11:04 p.m.

You need more ramp for the early game as your prism cards aren't plentiful enough to hold back the opponent.
Definitely Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx.
You might want to consider replacing Journey to Nowhere for Path to Exile
But apart from that sweet deck!

Good suggestion on Nykthos

Thanks! Also you might try Endless Horizons be warned this can end really bad if your opponent is playing enchantment removal.

Hey!

Interesting deck, have been into Angels myself for quite some time.

I wanted to ask you why did you remove the Resplendent Angel , and also why do you keep the Scroll of Avacyn now that you have removed the Angels? ^^

Thank you for the deck and for your answers!

The Angels are a win condition. They are also the slowest win condition ever in modern. I put more cards in that I thought would help me survive until I can actually play my win conditions. Scroll of Avacyn is still very viable for triggering Thune and also drawing cards regardless of board presence.
