I have defeated Geist decks in Cockatrice, but most of the times I lost. You have to keep in mind, this deck is competitive but not tier 1.

Geist of Saint Traft is just a broken card, and I'm a jerk to say that anyone playing it as their commander just cares about winning. Unless you're playing Tier-1, comparing any other deck to Geist isn't fair.

This article devides commanders of TL in three categories: 1) decks to beat 2) Others vying for the top and 3) Fringe hopefuls

Anax and Cymede is in the "Fringe hopefuls" and I concur. Anyway, this is a really fun deck to play, and fairly budget friendly. I recommend it if you don't want to win every game, and love to swing with 15 damage with a creature by surprise.

Have you considered Slayers' Stronghold to help bring some additional utility from your mana base?

Yeah, but Anax already has vigilance. Do you think its worth it?

It can help push additional damage through with your double strikers, vigilance is relevant to all your other creatures, and haste as well. It isn't as useful on Anax, but I think it has its benefits even on him - extra damage on a first striker can mean taking down bigger blockers.

Added Wing Shards to the sideboard to fight Geist of Saint Traft and True-Name Nemesis

Veteran's Armaments? Multiple creatures attacking either direction pump your guys pretty good. Not to mention Fabled Hero could be put on it for free.

Also, Timely Reinforcements might serve you better than Hordeling Outburst. Or at least do well alongside it

Thanks, I'm going to try both cards out. I actually have a fair amount of soldiers in the deck.

Gods Willing is a decent protection to help set off heroic. A good amount of your creatures are white, too. Brave the Elements could protect against a harsh board wipe

I have one of these, and it is quite a bit different (more creatures, mainly). Aggro All Over the Place

I especially have found the buyback spells to be really strong, and Aurelia's Fury is a nice finisher that can target in a pinch at instant speed.

What would you take out?

Soldier of the Pantheon - Seeker of the Way (once you face a monocolored deck, Seeker is a better option)

Hordeling Outburst - Return to the Ranks (Hordeling Outburst would be better if Trumpet Blast were in the main, or Goblin Rabblemaster.

Just my opinion :)

I like it! I agree with the Geist Deck comments in this thread. Most of the time Geist will win but as far as I'm concerned that really doesn't matter.

I use Jenara and Geist destroys me 8 out of 10 times but the two times I do win the Geist deck pilot cries enough to make it worth it lol.

Check out my shameless deck plug;

What about Dynacharge ?? Single target for anax or multy target for just 3 mana!!!!

also replaceWing Shards with Celestial Flare!!!!!

Are you sure Dynacharge triggers heroic?

May 15, 2015 11:18 a.m.

Dokujin says... #21

It does, I'm just a little foggy on whether or not overloading the spell will work more like an anthem effect until EOT or if the "each" mechanic still is considered a target by virtue of the counters being placed on each creature

Sagarys says... #22

Overloading does not. Overloading doesn't target. But the single effect does.

ironheadg07 says... #23

it does trigger heroic on single target use. If you already did the heroic on anax before there is no reason not tou use the overload.

It may still be a good choice. I wonder how Dual Casting and Reverberate would work out. Dualcaster Mage may be fun too
