Sideboard Notes Updated —May 20, 2017

It took a while but I've finally redone all the Sideboard Notes for Sideboarding against specific decks.

They are not hard and fast rules, just what has been effective in playtesting.

I have found that less is more. Try to keep the basic components of the deck together, and just sub a couple of cards here and there.

Except against Control, where you will need to adjust the deck quite a bit.

I don't know if you're trying to stay in a particular format, but Kragma Warcaller seems like a pretty good addition. A little pricey from a mana standpoint, but can really close a game out quickly.

Argeaux This deck , really kicked ass. MUSTs, are the 4x thrones, and the 4x staminas... Now, i didn't make major changes. all i did, was swapping 2 lands for 2xFiery Temper . Needless to say, that i got 6-2-0 at my LGS tournament. This deck is helluva fun! plus a budget one too!

the only thing that needs some attention is card draw. There were times, that i needed DESPERATELY cards. buuut that's over now XD . I will try and find a way to tweak it and inform you . Well played argy . well played

Thanks ROUROU.

Glad you enjoyed it and that it did well for you.

I love playing it. It's like a freight train that just rolls right over your Opponent, once it warms up.

Although Control, especially with Fevered Visions, just eats it alive.

You could try putting some Painful Lesson cards in for draw, but it's tricky to know what to remove for them. They can also do an extra 2 direct damage if you need it to close things out.

I'm sure you'll work it out.

I don't believe you can beat Fevered Visions with this deck, unless you are very, very lucky.

Hi,

What do you think about Bloodlust Inciter instead of Zulaport Cutthroat? You can attack with your Bloodrage Brawler on turn 2 or on turn 4 with Ondu Champion.

And thanks for this really nice deck (and all the notes!).

prophet666 You have to be relentless and win as soon as possible, because of the control decks. The haste given by the Bloodlust Inciter is very good in a general way, buuuuuuut the cutthroat, takes advantage of a board wipe. this alone, means that even though we might not have an answer to a wipe, like other colours do ( Eerie Interlude , Cancel etc ) , we can be happy to see our creatures destroyed and our opponents lose chunks of life. Zulaport, is one of the irreplacable cards in this deck xD

How does this deck match-up against mono black zombies? Have you thought about adding a board-wipe, like Yahenni's Expertise? Or, do you find that you can outrace the deck in terms of speed/damage?

Love the deck, btw. I am planning on building something similar. When I saw Minotaurs were back, I was pretty pumped to build a tribal deck around them.

Cheers,

-R

Sorry Argeaux that i answer the questions people are asking you, but i have become VERY familiar with the deck and since you are a busy person, you don't have to answer xD .

TheRedCzar sometimes we can outrun the deck sometimes not. The side-deck though, is VERY helpfull. Transgress, is a sick card to get rid of the big threats, like the Diregraf Colossus , Liliana's Mastery . Scarab Feast , has saved me GAMES, cause of the interactions with the graveyard. Last, but not least, Zombie decks, tend to pay life and draw cards. This life is way too precious to spend and we can outrace them xD .

I would love to give you more advice or to suggest more cards, buuuut i don't know about the deck-meta at your L.G.S. . If you run into a dead end, you can always add your own cards and see how it goes. play around and tell me how it goes ;)

That's OK ROUROU.

This is the time that I'm usually asleep, so I'm not awake to answer.

The answers you gave are what I would have said, anyway.

It's actually quite thrilling to see that someone else understands this deck so well.

TheRedCzar my latest Sideboard Note is for the Zombies.

I have been considering a board wipe against them. It's just that our deck doesn't really like wipes. Although we have the Haste from Hanweir Battlements, which they don't.

Of course we can always cast a Minotaur on top of Yahenni's Expertise.

I'll just wait to see what the local meta does before going that way.

Thanks ROUROU and Argeaux.

My thinking was in line with Argeaux, more that if we were getting later in the game and they've been using good spot removal, leaving me with only a few creatures, and them with a board-state that has gotten out of hand. I like the idea of Yahenni's Expertise because we can get another spell off after the wipe. Though, I guess if I am doing proper spot removal on their key-threats, the board should never reach that state. I guess I will have to play test it first and see if it is necessary. I was just curious how your experiences have gone against Zombies, as they are pretty big around here right now.

I was thinking of going with Lay Bare the Heart over Transgress the Mind. I'm not facing a lot of Marvel decks, so the legendary ruling on Lay Bare does not bother me as much, and I can nab a few key cards that are in the 1-2 mana range. Though I am going to play test with both and see which one works out better.

Thanks again for the insights and the help!

This deck seems interesting Argeaux. I was searching for a Minotaur tribal since I pulled Angel of Sanctions and foil Neheb, the Worthy in the same pack, and this deck has given me some inspiration. Upvote from me. I also wonder if you can help me with a sideboard with my deck Journey to the Afterlife and to build a deck around Kefnet the Mindful. I recently pulled a Kefnet invocation and I want to utilize it in standard.

Nice deck Argeaux , i bought the list and gonna play it at the standard gameday.

But i think about Fling , what do you think about to put 2 of them instead of 2 land ( 1 foreBoding ruins and 1 other ( but which ?) ). That's will be a nice combo against planewalker and to finish the player ( surnatural stamina + fling = huge damache to player and then creature is return tapped at the end of the turn, throne of the god pharaon damage)

thanks :)

Argy says... #15

Womokos that can certainly work.

I took Fling out because there just wasn't space for it in my Sideboard, and I liked what other stuff was doing better in my Mainboard.

It's strictly a meta call. Mine is full of Tier 1 decks.

Be aware that this deck faces some challenges against the Tier 1 decks. It my not do amazingly well at Game Day. Once again, it depends on your local meta.
