Sideboard

Another Control deck I've made on Arena for Historic, this time in Esper colors!

The average game with this deck for me goes like this: I do nothing but take hits for the first 4-5 turns, then I start to play board wipes, play spot removal/counters, draw cards, gain life, eventually win with Torment of Hailfire (Sometimes Professor Onyx ). Honestly, this deck can be rather straight forward if you know how to play control, all the cards are there and the deck wins in my experience, it's up to the player to decide when to cast the correct spell. And, as with all control decks, that is the key. In this case there's no grand strategy of setting up combo pieces,it's simply trying to stay alive until enough mana can be spent to drain the opponent's life with one spell. Ideally, after initially almost dying, the player should exhaust the opponent's supply of threats, or have at least interrupted it. In the side there are a few things I should explain.

Should creatures be needed, Shark Typhoon will (hopefully!) provide enough to fight and survive with, Heartless Act and Poison for additional spot removal, Stifle for those games where the issue isn't someone casting a bomb, but maybe an ETB effect that needs to be suppressed. So, the odd one out in all of this is what I saved for last, it's a card that seems counterintuitive for this deck: The Immortal Sun. It might lock the player out of their own PW abilities, but this is intended for Superfriends decks that one might run into. Essentially, ditch your own PWs in order to lock down the opponents by siding this and Stifle in.

Thanks for checking this out! I hope I didn't sound rude, I just don't know how to explain this deck to someone who doesn't know how to play control. No ill intent meant, I just am not a good teacher!
