This is a spin-off on the reanimator deck genre for Legacy and (mostly) Casual play. It is not as competitive as a pure reanimator deck you 'll run across at a tournament, but it can and will pull off a turn 1 win now and then-plus it's fun hitting your unsuspecting opponent for 42 life before he even got a chance to play!
How does it work? In short,
Draco
+
Sacrifice
+
Torment of Hailfire
.
You bring a creature with a huuuuuuuuuge casting cost (you can't go wrong with
Draco
), sacrifice it with either (duhhh..)
Sacrifice
or
Burnt Offering
, then cast a
Torment of Hailfire
for mana, which translates to upwards of a hefty 14x3=42 points of life lost.
Your path to Turn 1 victory goes like this:
-A single mana to cast
Dark Ritual
.
-
Entomb
+
Reanimate
(or
Cabal Therapy
yourself if you drew it +
Reanimate
), where you send poor
Draco
to the graveyard, then bring him to the battlefield for his moment of glory.
-Either
Sacrifice
or
Burnt Offering
targeting Draco for a huuuuuuuge () amount of mana.
-Hit your unsuspecting opponent with
Torment of Hailfire
. If he can't Force-of-Will-it he is toast. Best he can do is discard all his hand to avoid 21 life, then get hit for 21 more and go home.
Should this glorious-but statistically not so probable-strategy fail to materialize, your game is this:
Either go for a second-third turn win or bring as soon as you can (by turn 3 it should be feasible most of the time, otherwise mulligan)
Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur
. Jin will bring the combo elements, while his ability to zero you opponent's hand also works wonders with Torment of Hailfire. Even if you can't bring Draco, you can sac Jin and boost the Torment with a Dark Ritual,
Lotus Petal
(Don't forget a single ) translates to 3 life and finish him off this way.
Overall a fun, quite reliable combo deck to play that runs into trouble only on a counter-heavy opponent or someone faster than you.
Notes
Cabal Therapy
will offer some-limited-chance to neutralize opponent's
Force of Will
on second/third match while a Jin on first turn will obviously effectively kill his chances as well, but we aim for the fun element of winning.
