YouはShock! 愛で空が落ちてくる!

YouはShock! 俺の胸に落ちてくる!

熱い心 クサリでつないでも 今は無駄だよ!

邪魔する奴は 指先ひとつでダウンさ!

Maybe you haven't noticed, but I've been using song titles as mottos for my last brewed deck, and I'm going to keep doing this for a while. "Ai wo Torimodose!!" is the first opening theme of the anime that came out in 1983, "Fist of the North Star". Originally premiered in Japan, the protagonist Kenshiro, a master of the martial art style Hokuto Shinken. Unlike other martial art styles, Kenshiro's Hokuto Shinken attacked the opponent's body through pressure points. Upon unleashing his attack, including his signature move Hokuto Hyakuretsu-ken, his victims would be told that they were "already dead" before their bodies would erupt from the inside.

  • "YouはShock" means you're shocked. But it's actually a pun, sounding like "YouはShark", meaning you're a shark.

  • "邪魔する奴は 指先ひとつでダウンさ!" means whoever the guy is in the way, I can knock him down with just one finger!

"Omae Wa Mou Shindeiru"

Let's break down Captain's second abilities, layer by layer.
  • "Whenever you discard one or more cards, target creature gets +2/+0 until the end of turn for each card discarded this way."

The first paragraph says it's triggered only once per discard action. The more cards you discard, the higher the power you get; you can't split +2 /+0 separately.

  • "Whenever this creature deals combat damage to any player this turn, you draw a card."

The second part is a delayed Ophidian trigger that draws you a card, whether the target creature is under your control or not. You could squeeze this ability the most if you could discard separately in instant speed, rather than just risking creatures you own draw you a card through combat and survive after that.

Of course, you can build with lots of unblockable weenies, but it takes slots. These weenies can't do damage without our captain, and serve no purpose on their own. On the other hand, mana dorks could ramp you up for your early plan and become attackers later on with some assistance.

Have to mention your +2/+0 with a few Goad effects could do some shenanigans, which potentially solves some problems. Be sneakier, not the strongest.

Do you still dump your cards in a dumb way? See how looters and cycling can swap you for another card, they provide you options, and even more card advantage with our captain and some friends in play.
  • Monument to Endurance, Rielle, the Everwise are the perfect value engines that have good chemical reactions with discard.

  • Step Through, Dizzy Spell, Mirrorshell Crab type-cycling, transmute, and channel are counted as discard. They could easily slot in for your tutor and the removal.

  • Key to the City give unblockable to not just your creature, but every threat on the board. Convince your opponents with your silver tongue and make a profit.

  • Rhet-Tomb Mystic makes every creature have cycling, Anger and Wonder now never stuck in your hand, and a discount for Nimble Obstructionist.

  • Faithless Looting, Run for Your Life abilities like flashback, escape, disturb, jump-start, and retrace all allow you to cast spells from the graveyard. Embalm and unearth are similar, but ain't cast. Hide the leaf in the forest.

  • We've got three game plans to take the crown. First, we go high, give Captain penetration and a fucken wheel to kill the guy you not cool with it.

Second, oh, we love the second. We put some fun items like Slicer, Hired Muscle   or Bloodthirsty Blade and give them +2/+0; varying degrees of destruction are to be expected.

And the last, some serious stuff that doesn't play around. About cOmBo.
