Very interesting...I'll have to think about that one. The cc is pretty steep, but that could really kill later in the game.

True. And it combos with Sol Ring and Mana Vault to generate infinite colorless mana (if you're into that).

I tend to stay away from infinite combos...feels like breaking the game. There's a few other cards in the maybeboard that I want to add before dealing with such a beast of a creature. Should be doing some playtesting tonight, so if I end up with a lot of mana to spare, then it's definitely going in. This is the first deck I've made that has less than 3cc average, so I'm curious how it will play out.

You will most definitely hate my deck then. Lol

I'm guessing you have at least 4 infinite combos in it? :)

I'm running bloodcrank, dustcrank, basalt + rings, deadeye + peregrine drake and possibly adding palinchron + phantasmal image. Lol. I guess it's just fair since I play mostly multiplayer games where practically everyone is trying to take me out first. I must say it is a very exciting way to play. :-)

Anyways Crystal Shard might work if you need more bounce cards and maybe an Archetype of Imagination for more evasion.

I definitely considered Crystal Shard , but I just picked up an Isochron Scepter , so we'll see how that pans out for the time being. I have enough instants to make it worthwhile.

+1 for giving Kamigawa some love

Picked up some more ninjas, and I'm playing around with the color/land alteration cards to tweak other people's decks. Think your guy is safe with that protection from blue/black sword etc...think again. Also wondering how much hate Flooded Woodlands is going to get me when I can alter it to say white or red.

Bloodchief Ascension might fit nicely in this deck.

What would you take out?

Sai of the Shinobi or Manriki-Gusari dont really seem worth it in this deck. The sai only gives +1/+1 and is easy equip but to me it doesnt seem worth it unless theres a combo im not seeing. So id consider removing that.

Anytime I ninjutsu in a ninja it gets automatically equipped which is helpful when I want the 3 damage for Sigg's ability. The Manriki-Gusari is for taking out swords and other voltron style decks, and it gets tutored easily with the various transmute cards I have in here. It is a contender for getting cut though since it's a pretty specific ability, so I'll have to think about that one.

So the deck has been panning out well with bouncing and trickery, keeping the opponents confused and making use of the Isochron Scepter for multicasting Darkness , Stifle , etc. I'm honestly looking for a few more ninja-style cards. I ended up taking out Shuriken which was a bummer, but it just didn't see enough use...even though it's the most ninja card other than actual ninjas. I'd like to have some more cards in there like Darkness or Whim of Volrath . Cards that are unusual and tricky, and can disrupt an opponents plan without being too offensive that I get targeted in multiplayer.

Instead of Boomerang , maybe go for Into the Roil ?

Also Ronin Warclub and Sai of the Shinobi are fairly underwhelming for EDH, since players have 40 life. Equipment with a larger focus on damage will work better with all your unblockable creatures, such as Loxodon Warhammer , Empyrial Plate , or Sword of Kaldra .

Also a suggestion for more flavour, Tatsumasa, the Dragon's Fang would be fun. A bit too expensive to be super awesome, but it fits the ninja theme.

I had Into the Roil in here a while back, but I do like the occasional use of Boomerang to return a problematic land to their hand, like Maze of Ith or save one of mine from a Strip Mine . I also never used the kicker since it was one of the few instants I run with Isochron Scepter . Darkness and Stifle are a few of the others. The equipment are more useful than you'd think, since I hardly ever do damage with the unblockable creatures and when I ninjutsu something into play they get automatically equipped to that creature. I'd love to find some more equipment that do a similar mechanic though. I've thought about swapping Sai of the Shinobi for a Quietus Spike ...though Tatsumasa, the Dragon's Fang does seem pretty slick. It even doubles as a sneaky 5/5 flyer that I can call into play at instant speed. Think I'm putting that one in the maybeboard.

Instead of Swamp Mosquito perhaps Snake Cult Initiation . You have a lot of completely unblockable creatures so it should get through for 3 poison counters almost always. Its amazing on Blighted Agent for 4 counters a pop.

Dauthi Embrace would fit as well.

Have you seen Thousand Winds from the new set yet?

August 26, 2014 6:27 p.m.

freezerboy says... #20

I see where you're going with that...though I refrain from any creature enchantments. I am usually bouncing the unblockable creatures back to my hand with ninjutsu which would kill anything I have enchanting them...plus the damage wouldn't get through so I'd miss the poison counters. The nice thing about Swamp Mosquito is that it gives a poison counter simply by not getting blocked, then I can ninjutsu in a ninja and deal damage as well.

I had not seen Thousand Winds and does seem like a useful alternative to AEtherize , which I used to run in this deck...pretty steep cost though.

Added in a few more cards, and swapped out a few creatures that were underwhelming for some more instants. The deck has worked out well in multiplayer, and happened to win a game by Memory Plunder -ing a Rise of the Dark Realms that someone had to discard.

dammit all...and braids too. Well looks like that'll make room for some cards I wanted to add. If only I'd waited a few more weeks before trading for the damn thing.

Trying out a new commander and adding in a few other destruction style cards to see if that helps with removal.

Added in a ton more tutors to see if I can get some more consistent use out of the one shot kill spells in the deck.
