This deck has a cmc so low, when you cast
Ad Nauseam
, you have maximum 17 damage to flip from it. So if you are at 20? Draw your deck.
Simple enough of a combo after that. 4x
Mox Opal
gets you 4 mana, but you may have used 1 or 2, so you only need 2 for 2 mana.
Grapeshot
ing after you cast like 20 0 drop spells will win easily enough after that, should get the opponent deader than a doornail. Protecting the combo is 4x
Pact of Negation
, a
Slaughter Pact
against any
Thalia, Guardian of Thraben
or semi-similar hatebear, and the rest of the deck is there to get you to that point with ease.
We have a smatter of 0 mana cards, from x-spells and multikickers like
Hangarback Walker
,
Walking Ballista
,
Engineered Explosives
,
Astral Cornucopia
,
Chalice of the Void
and
Everflowing Chalice
, actual 0 mana cards like
Mox Opal
and
Tormod's Crypt
, pacts like
Slaughter Pact
and
Pact of Negation
, as well as a multitude of utility lands, from
Ghost Quarter
and
Field of Ruin
, to
Academy Ruins
and
Inventors' Fair
, and sideboard Bojuka Bogs, all fetchable by a playset of tutors in
Tolaria West
We have a pretty good matchup against most decks, with our combo being a 1 card combo, our deck being relatively successful at getting to said combo, running enough cards that ramp us to it, or slow out opponents down, and the downside is that you lose consistently to a turn 1
Chalice of the Void
on x=0. Technically the deck can win from there, you just use a
Grapeshot
you naturally draw (you won't get 3 artifacts for
Inventors' Fair
to fetch it), and
Ad Nauseam
to draw enough cards to storm off from no mana. I have lost every game an opponent chalices for 0, but outside of that, the deck works.
