Sideboard

Maybeboard

Hello all! This is a tool box deck built to use Eldritch Evolution to sac creatures for value and to find answers to the decks you are facing! Suggestions are always welcome but please inform me of the reason you are suggesting a card!

We are only going to look at main board here.

Anafenza, the Foremost: To stop dredge and other graveyard decks.

Melira, Sylvok Outcast: Of course for our Finks combo but also for when we face Infect decks.

Reclamation Sage: In for troublesome artifacts and enchantments. I.E. Affinity decks, Blood Moons, Chalice, Eidolon, etc.

Eternal Witness: We are running 2 of these as most of our cards are one of's and we need a way to deal with removal of them when it happens. Value!

Siege Rhino: because Siege Rhino.... More value!

Kitchen Finks: Combo card but also good attacker/blocker and keeps us healthy! More value again!

Thragtusk: 5 health + 5/3 body that gives a 3/3 body when it dies.... I know... I have a problem when it comes to value, I get it.

The rest should be pretty self explanatory but if you have any questions, feel free to ask!

Path to Exile: Save this for threats that are very hard for us to deal with, if possible. The big Eldrazis, Primval Titans, Wurmcoil Engine, and the like.

Fatal Push: Easy to trigger revolt so this can hit a large variety of targets. Great against tarmagoyfs, Death's Shadows, and a whole bunch of other stuff.

Thoughtseize and Inquisition of Kozilek: Hand disruption and more hand disruption!

We have a couple combos that gain us infinite life and/or infinite P/T creatures and/or infinite scry 1. These are:

Archangel of Thune + Spike Feeder : Infinite Life and P/T creatures. Easy enough to set up and very straight forward.

and

Kitchen Finks + Melira, Sylvok Outcast + Viscera Seer : Costs less to set up and can happen as early as turn 3!

and

Archangel of Thune + Kitchen Finks + Viscera Seer : This is the strongest combo in the deck as not only are you getting infinite life and P/T creatures, you are also getting infinite Scry 1!

You need a good knowledge of what the decks you are facing are doing to side board efficiently with this deck. The main deck will hold out against most things but certain decks really hurt us and there will be cards that are useless in main deck against some decks. For example, Anafenza is a dead draw for us against Scapeshift, so swap in Spellskite/Eidolon/Aven for it.

Abrupt Decay: We don't really have efficient ways to deal with planeswalkers and some enchantments/artifacts or against counter spells, helps against those.

Anafenza, the Foremost: Check Creatures panel above

Aven Mindcensor: Tron, Valakut decks (Bring to light/Scapeshift/Primeval Titan), Chord, etc. Lots of uses. Also against cards like Surgical Extraction, Crumble, etc

Eidolon of Rhetoric: Combo decks, burn decks, or just decks that like to cast a lot of stuff each turn... Keep in mind that Eidolon looks at the whole turn, not just after it was played. So casting it also means that is your 1 spell this turn so try to cast it as your last spell on your turn.

Fulminator Mage: Helps against Tron, Valakut, Man-lands

Languish: Against Elves, Merfolk, tokens, etc

Reclamation Sage: Check in Creatures panel above

Relic of Progenitus: Great against things like Tarmagoyf and other graveyard decks. Also useful against decks that use Snapcaster Mage.

Scavenging Ooze: Graveyard hate again... (this may be replaced for something to help with burn)

Sin Collector: For facing decks that have a lot of instant/sorcery spells.

Spellskite: Burn, creature hate, enchantment decks, etc. This card can be extremely useful.

Stony Silence: Man I wish I had a way to search for this against affinity....

I have not listed everything... there is a lot. That said if you think I missed something important please let me know! I will add it and give you credit in the "Thank you to:" section!

If you see a Grafdigger's Cage, remove it immediately. All of our non creature removal hits it (luckily) but it seriously hurts this deck. Same with an opposing Aven Mindcensor (but not as much).

This deck will struggle against Scapeshift/Valakut decks. We can try to delay/slow it down with Fulminator and Inquisition's/Seize's to try to get either an infinite life combo out or draw enough creature removal but good luck to you on that.

Chasmolinker for the suggestions and teaching me how to do make the panels and upvote button! Go check out his deck:18-04-17-jund-midrange deck. It's lots of fun to play!

Mandalorian for all the suggestions that helped get the deck to where it is now! Your suggestions are much appreciated!

user:GabeCubed! For the suggestion of Eternal Witness!

Eiyros for the suggestion of Spike Feeder!

Penthoplayer for suggesting I use Birds of Paradise. Also for Anafenza, the Foremost instead of Rest in Peace! Ended up using her in both main and sideboard!

Hoschie for suggesting Voice of Resurgence! Great suggestion and very much appreciated!

Apakakuta Although I didn't end up using your suggestions as the cards got removed, you helped me get the deck to where it is now! Thank you for that!

+1 Upvote if you like the deck! It's much appreciated!

Thanks for reading and viewing the deck! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

Updates Add

So there will be an update coming to sideboard and mainboard soon. I haven’t tested one of the changes yet but I think it might help closing out games a bit and also gives me something to sac a rhino for IF I run into trouble. Also, after a lot of testing (online (not MTGO) since I haven’t been able to go play at my LGS) I’ve found that I’ve needed more large creature removal but also draw was seriously needed. On top of that I’ve found that somewhat frequently by the time that Thune comes down I am facing 4 P/T in the air from the ever so glorious Souls in games 2 and 3. I have found that, (VERY) surprisingly, Abzan Charm has been solving these needs quite well. This is something that I did not expect at all but in my testing, it’s served its purpose incredibly well. That said... It puts me at 62 cards and I legitimately don’t know what to remove (Obzedat has been doing work so not really wanting to remove him).
