So a card got banned... —Feb. 4, 2016

For the first time since I started playing Magic, the EDH rules committee banned a card I actually used, namely Prophet of Kruphix, which was a trifle annoying because I wasn't really breaking it or anything, and combining Kruphix and his prophet was definitely a flavor win.

In the grand scheme of things though I only ran the card in two decks, but while I found a replacement sitting around unused in my trade binder in like a minute for the other one, the prophet ban got me to take a long hard look at the cards in this deck that I didn't necessarily have to run, unlike all the creatures with evolve (I can't even cut the awful ones, unless Wizards decides to print a whole bunch more and I suddenly get options), so I've reworked quite a few things. Some cards were just ones I always should have been running but didn't for one reason or another (probably price originally), a few got cut to add in more land, others were just cards I thought were neat and never saw anyone else play, that in a vacuum are probably better than what they replaced.

The deck didn't really get any less durdly, but the cards in it that were always kind of "meh" are pretty much gone now (except of course for the ones I put there totally on purpose), it should run a bit smoother, and it has one more potential win-con/value engine than it used to, so that's nice.
