I've been brewing with Rakdos 8-Rack lists for several years (8-Rakdos) and recently I've been trying to do more comprehensive look at what options are available (8 Rack Variations). I'm using this copy of the deck to brainstorm and consider options for an updated, Rakdos version of the deck.

The standard core of the deck remains using The Rack, Shrieking Affliction, Davriel, Rogue Shadowmage as your win condition.

Thoughtseize, Inquisition of Kozilek, and Blackmail give you a variety of options for selective discard. Blackmail is included because it's a better top deck late in the game.

Blightning is the reason to splash red, giving you a burst of discard and damage that escalates your clock.

Liliana of the Veil, Davriel, Rogue Shadowmage, Raven's Crime, and Rix Maadi, Dungeon Palace give you repeatable sources of discard.

Collective Brutality can be discard, removal, or push you ahead in a race. Kolaghan's Command can be discard or removal, including problematic artifacts like Chalice of the Void post-sideboard.

Dreadbore can take out problematic planeswalkers (which often draw cards) or creatures. Feed the Swarm takes out creatures, Urza's Saga, or Leyline of Sanctity post-sideboard. Surgical Extraction is safety against graveyard decks that sometimes forces discard and can remove things that threaten you (or just slow your opponents down).

For sideboard, my thought is Abrade can come in for another option against artifact or creature heavy decks.Break the Ice is great against Urza's Saga, Tron, and snow decks. Leyline of the Void doubles down against graveyard decks.

Lightning Skelemental and Kroxa, Titan of Death's Hunger can come in for Blightning and Ensnaring Bridge against decks where you're looking to be the aggressor (and hopefully after they've sided out their creature removal against your otherwise creatureless deck). Kroxa also provides a late game inevitability to break a top deck stalemate.
