5c Gates Modern

12 " Fog " effects to keep us in the game. Respite gains us life while Dawn Charm keeps our HP pool safe from targeted spells. Isochron Scepter to ensure that I've always got access to Fog effects. Once Isochron is in play, I can start to use my "Fog" effects politically, letting me save opponents or gain life from combat that I'm not involved in. This lets me keep all my foes alive until I'm ready to kill them all!

Elixir of Immortality serves two purposes here. One is to gain life. Life is important to us, as we will not always have a Fog available in the early game, so we need to recover from early damage. The more important role that this cards serves is to cancel out any land destruction headed my way, making sure that I can always win with Maze's End by recycling destroyed lands back into my library, ready to be searched out again. It also has the handy addition of making the deck immune to mill win-cons.

Amulet of Vigor is very important for our lands, since they all come into play tapped. It also has some unique stacking effects when you get multiple of them into play. Say you've got two Amulet of Vigor s in play and you play a guild gate. In response to the second trigger, you can tap the land for mana and let the second trigger un-tap it. When 4 are in play, you can gain up to 3 free mana per Guildgate played. Quite a fun little mana combo!

Guild Summit and Rites of Flourishing will keep my hand full and let me drop Guildgates faster while Crackling Perimeter serves as an alternate win-condition.
