Budget manabase for 5c decks leaning toward competitive. Skewed in favor of G and U as usually those are base colors.

Objectives:

• Target budget ~10USD per card
• Solid starting point for 5c strategies

Probabilities

Relevant Probabilities:

• there are 4 penta producing lands City of Brass, Tarnished Citadel, Mana Confluence, Forbidden Orchard and I've added 1 to represent improperly a mix of Birds of Paradise, Prismatic Vista, Exotic Orchard.
• there are 20 lands that can produce G
• there are 20 lands that can produce U

In the opening hand:

• the probability of hitting one of the penta lands is ~30%
• the probability of hitting at least one (or ) is ~80%
• the probability of hitting (or ) is ~40%

After the first draw (T1) has roughly 50% probability

Mana Pie

The mana production pie is skewed toward and as they are usually the most important color to hit early on. for mana acceleration and fixing, (and possibly ) for permission.

• 5 lands that can produce more than 3 colors (4 penta and 1 prismatic vista)

Reflecting Pool and Exotic Orchard don't necessarily fix you, so they are not counted in the above, but they surely help.

Dorks and Rocks

This is a selection of the most commonly used tools for ramping fast mana keeping in mind the budget constraint.

• Elves, mana dorks since the dawn of Magic
• Deathrite Shaman, more of an utility creature which will produce WURBG mana more often than not
• Sol Ring doesn't need introduction
• Arcane Signet, Fellwar Stone and Talisman of Curiosity are premium colored mana producers that are within the target budget.

There may be an argument for running one of the opposite of for the talisman, so , but I think that hitting the second is too important, and also double is relevant to play a double spell like second dork or some other classic green followup Sylvan Library/Carpet of Flowers
