Changes since BFZ. —Oct. 2, 2016
It's been long enough since I added some of these cards that I no longer remember what I cut to make room for them, so this will mostly just be a list of what's changed since the last card I mentioned swapping out.
-
Ayli, Eternal Pilgrim - This one at least I remember, as Ayli took over the role that Disciple of Griselbrand was playing, as she is an almost strictly better version of that card.
-
Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet - How about some upside on top of your upside, served with a helping of additional upside? This card is bonkers, and it provided me with extra bonus amusement watching Standard players initially dismiss it when Oath was being spoiled; thanks to them I got the foil copy this deck runs for less than what the regular version costs now. Thanks for being so terrible at card evaluation Standard players!
-
Karlov of the Ghost Council - Karlov is insane, literally my only complaint about this card is that I can't get a foil version of it.
-
Anguished Unmaking - Paying 3 life to get instant speed super-Vindicate (for anything but lands) isn't really a downside in a life-gain deck.
-
Sorin, Grim Nemesis - Ordinarily when evaluating planeswalkers you're supposed to ignore the ultimate because it basically never happens, but in this case it will probably never happen because I'm so enamored with his first two abilities.
-
Rise of the Dark Realms - There were probably more practical spells I could have added instead, but this is just so quintessentially this format.
-
Fetid Heath - Part of my continued efforts to improve the mana-base by reducing the number of ETB-tapped lands I run.
-
Forbidden Orchard - Likewise.
-
Mystic Gate - This land having great artwork is also a plus.
-
Prairie Stream - Fetchable duals are always nice (now we just need the enemy cycle).
