An Animar, Soul of Elements deck based on the mutate mechanic in Ikoria. The idea is to get Animar out as fast as possible, ramp a bit with creatures like Farhaven Elf and Ilysian Caryatid and get some +1/+1 counters on Animar, then mutate onto Animar at a discounted price. Ideally, I get a "whenever you cast a creature" draw engine going, like Zendikar Resurgent or Beast Whisperer . Unfortunately, "whenever a creature enters the battlefield" draw engines don't work with mutate, so cards like Garruk's Uprising and Soul of the Harvest won't work.

The plan for ending the game is simple: eliminate each opponent with commander damage. Mutating onto Animar will make their base power and toughness higher (hopefully 6/6 or more) and will add trample Illna, Apex of Wishes Sawtusk Demolisher Gemrazer . Animar, if not removed, can easily get to 11 power with mutating and +1/+1 counters. From there, a closer like Embercleave , Terror of Mount Velus , Xenagos, God of Revels can get you to 22 commander damage to eliminate an opponent. Protection from white and black, flying, and trample are all viable forms of evasion to make sure that the necessary 21 commander damage gets through.

Some budget cuts were made so I could actually afford the deck, Copied deck. Leaning more into animar side of it. Looking to trim the budget so I can buy the full deck. Examples of cuts (which I will include in the comments) include Rhystic Study and Cyclonic Rift . If anyone has suggestions, please keep budget in mind. Thanks guys!!
