Melira Infect EDH

I chose to build Melira because it's a really flavorful card with an insanely low mana cost for a commander. Obviously not many people like infect, don't think it's viable in a competitive meta, and don't think it's a very strong win-con. Not to mention, running a dedicated infect deck is going to paint a serious target on you. Nevertheless I decided to jump right in and build a somewhat competitive Melira, Sylvok Outcast deck.

To start off we have our mana-ramp package because a lot of the creatures we're going to use have a relatively high converted mana cost. This is essential to make this deck work. We also have a few mana dorks to cover our bases. Extraplanar Lens and Bear Umbra fit nicely to help accelerate this deck as well.

Next we have our tutors so we can grab the creatures we need for most situations. Elvish Piper is very helpful with these. We also want to run a few cards that give haste because large infect creatures often become the target of spot removal, so you want to be able to use them as soon as they're cast.

With Melira's interesting ability that forbids -1/-1 counters to be placed on creatures you control, we have options for persist. This helps us immensely because infect damage isn't always going to be our win-con. This is honestly secondary to the deck as a general rule. With options for persist we can use Cauldron of Souls and our sac outlets to do things like: generate infinite mana, destroy all permanents, use Blasting Station to kill the table, and Altar of Dementia to flip some decks over.

Melira's ability also gives us interesting interaction with cards like Phyrexian Hydra, that essentially become indestructible with her on board.

All in all this is a very fun deck with several lines of play. It does well in a pod and 1v1. It's very interesting to see the reactions from players. It keeps your opponents on their toes and makes politicking fun as well. Hope you enjoy and feel free to give any suggestions on how you would run this deck.
