Rayami. First of the Fallen Commander Deck.

Deck Goals

This deck has the soul of a Voltron deck beating inside it. Basically, we want Rayami filled to the brim with keywords to smite our foes. This means:

  • We want creatures with multiple keywords (or at least Protection) so we aren't dependant on our foes' creatures. Especially since we'd lose those when the opponent is KO'd.
  • Rayami has to be on the field to blood-counter exile them, so we're going to need some ramping.
  • We need ways to kill our creatures for Rayami, so cheap/free sacrifice outlets are a must.

Positive games for Rayami usually have us dropping ramp/cheap martyrs early, then unleashing Rayami ASAP to feast upon them through one of our sacrifice outlets.

Creatures Without Keywords

  • Viscera Seer : One-Drop that'll gladly sac our friends, let us scry a bit as well.

  • Vizier of the Menagerie : A very roundabout way for mana fixing & "card draw". We do have an issue of many double-colored costs (looking at you, Nightveil Predator ), so a little more help with that is nice. Plus playing a card off the top is almost like drawing it.

  • Spark Double : What's better than one 5/4 Flying/Haste/Trample/Indestrutible/First Strike/Reach/Deathtouch/Lifelink/Menace/Protection to Who-Knows-What? A second one that also has a +1 counter on it. Helm of the Host is here to do a similar job.

Sacrifice Outlets

  • Viscera Seer : One-Drop that'll gladly sac our friends, let us scry a bit as well.

  • Bontu the Glorified : Not only one of our Indestructible sources, but a way to sac/gain a little life/draw cards.

  • Yahenni, Undying Partisan : Also a source for Haste, they can grow huge while also temporarily sacing a faithful martyr to stay around.

Cards of Note

  • Unearth : Ever since Modern Horizons and putting a copy of this card into my cube, my friends and I see this little spell's overwhelming power and respect it. It can cycle away if you don't need it, but mainly here to Monster Reborn a cheap CMC (including the Gods!) that died before Rayami could eat them.

  • Eldrazi Conscription : Mainly for flavor, also for +10/+10 Trample & Annihilator 2. Can't say no to that.

  • Dimir Spybug : No, we really aren't Surveiling around here, but a 2-drop Flying & Menace is tasty. Especially since we don't have much Menace going on.

  • Kefnet the Mindful : The God I'm most willing to sacrifice for Rayami's Indestructibility. Bontu is a sac outlet & Rhonas is his best pal to fight alongside with. Kefnet is KFC.
