Sideboard

What doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Hurt yourself, draw your deck, you won't die, but it will be extremely painful! This deck truly embodies the core values of black in Magic. If you are willing to pay the price, you will get the reward...

The keyword of this deck is "Value", and the Value-Engine is our commander, hence all the ramp. We want Vilis out fast and we want him protected. When you get him out, you will most likely have a lot of options and this is where the deck thrives. As long as Vilis is out, you will always have access to a ridiculous amount of card draw. With tons of cards come tons of answers, and with tons of answers, you will most likely run away with the game. In addition to constant card draw, Vilis also makes you benefit from the rapid life loss that is found in this deck, converting it to even more card draw. With no maximum hand size, lifegain that fills you back up again, multiple tutors, and many different finishers, you're extremely flexible, yet also unpredictable.

There are so many cards that could go in this deck and there are so many different styles and directions you can go in. The Maybeoard of for this deck is huge and I constantly try out new cards. If you have any suggestions, I'd love to hear them!

PS: If you're wondering about the alters, it's simply cards that have the old design-look or have a bad original crop. What can I say... I'm a sucker for continuity, so I remastered them. It's also a nice bonus to have the updated text directly on the card.
