Sorcery (4)

Ever since I saw Tree of Perdition I knew there was a new deck to be made with Triskaidekaphobia . I've seen a few decks floating around and here is my modern take on it.

Plan A

This deck is well equipped with high toughness creatures and Assault Formation makes them lethal. Both Tree of Perdition and his brother Tree of Redemption can be a 4-drop 13/13 and prove to be very intimidating.

Plan B

I would consider the Tree of Perdition + Triskaidekaphobia combo second because it's not always as simple as it seems. When it works, it works; but, making it a back-up plan can give just that much more room to work with the rest of the cards.

Creatures

Tree of Perdition - the reason these decks now exist. Very successful blocker and our combo piece.

Doran, the Siege Tower - awesome 3-drop 5/5 and makes all other creatures viable attackers. Good synergy with Sapling of Colfenor .

Siege Rhino - Because Siege Rhino is Siege Rhino . Siege Rhino, Siege Rhino.

Sylvan Caryatid - always nice. Especially with 3 colors.

Sapling of Colfenor - Has a nice toughness to pair with Assault Formation and has a wonderful ability to both gain lots of life and draw through the deck a little. Also, he's indestructible.

Wall of Omens - draws us, protects us, and can become lethal with Assault Formation .

Spells

Triskaidekaphobia - the other combo piece and often the namesake of other similar decks. This makes you very aware of both player's life totals. Always be sure that you may have to play a fetch just to keep yourself from 13.

Assault Formation - beautiful.

Kin-Tree Invocation - I've definitely grown to love this card in the deck. Probably not worthy of a playset because of the lower creature count but a 2-drop 13/13 is something.

Abrupt Decay - Yup.

Thoughtseize - Totally.

Path to Exile ? - Yes, please.

Lands

The only ones really worth mentioning includes: Miren, the Moaning Well . This really helps against most any deck to give you just that much more time. Sac a token to it, a tree if you want or even your Caryatid. Very nice. And the Pain lands Cave of Koilos and Llanowar Wastes . These help yourself keep your life away from 13 in case Triskaidekaphobia ever became your own problem.

I am a huge fan of man-lands for those really late games and the free creatures from Khalni Garden . 2 Forests and 2 Swamps and 1 Plains to help against Blood Moon . No Verdant Catacombs purely based on money.

Sideboard (In the making)

Thanks for looking. I'm up for any debate on the relevance of keeping or dropping any new or old cards. Thanks everyone.

Updates Add

Last FNM people made a good point that red is only for the kill spells. No real strategy to the deck with red included even though Lightning Bolts and Kolaghan's Command are quite nice. With that in mind, I was suggested Doran, the Siege Tower! I think this fits perfectly with the deck and can help cut back on the Assault Formations a little. White does open us up to good side-boarding options and potentially better creatures with Assault Formation or now Doran, the Siege Tower.
