Seizan, Perverter of Truth

Did this ever happend to you? You sit down with your friends for a fun EDH round and one gets mana screwed and is basiclly out of the game and can't do anything meaningful for an hole hour and it just feels bad? Is the simic player drawing again half of their deck? Do you want to make the person with a Rhystic Study stop asking if you pay the one?

Well this Demon with his Lovley Smile may be the answer for you!

We want to make our opponents draw a bunch of cards! .... isn't that bad? Well yes but actually no. Everything comes with a price and as black mage we embrace this philosophy. Cards like Underworld Dreams , Iron Maiden and Price of Knowledge punish our opponents for having all these extra Cards.

Most of them come from Seizan, Perverter of Truth itself, but he has a bit of support with Temple Bell and Font of Mythos . But we want to be carefull not to give them to much advantage and simply winning. For that we ran alot of boardwipes and removal to keep the board free from anything that could bother us.

To finnally end there suffering of our victims we can cast a classic Exsanguinate or Gray Merchant of Asphodel . It is also very fun is killing someone with the new Peer into the Abyss when punishing effects lay around.

  • It is Important to know how to trigger the upkeep trigger because you have a few! For example Seizan and Iron Maiden . On an opponets upkeep first go there triggers on the stack and then come your trigger and you need to stack them correctly. First you want to put Iron Maiden and then Seizan 's trigger on the stack. This way the opponet first draws 2 cards and loses 2 life then Iron Maiden 's trigger will resolve and deals it damage, which is two more this way. And then The active player will draw in his drawstep and continues his/her/there normal turn. Font of Mythos is not as good because it triggers in the Draw Step, and cards like Iron Maiden in the upkeep triggern, so it deals damage first and then the opponet gets to draw 3 cards in the Draw Step.

  • The way you sit down can make a different, the player to your left probably draws the most cards from Seizan and the player right to you probably the least (except for yourself). Keep in mind it can make a difference.

  • Flash on Seizan is very strong, then you can play him at the endstep of the one player before you so you are the one who draws first and you don't need to hope if it survies until it is your turn. Sadly in mono black there are only really 3 ways. Emergence Zone , Winding Canyons and Vedalken Orrery and i would recoment all three!

I see alot of Seizan discard decks which I think it not as fun as this version. The idea is that through your commander your opponets have always cards in there hand for you to discard and you get vaule from cards like Waste Not and Liliana's Caress . I personally think my way is more fun to play for all players.
