Marwyn Elfball (Commander Game Night)

Commander / EDH Mono-Green

a little Marwyn EDH deck i've thrown together for casual commander.

The idea of the deck is to get Marwyn onto the battlefield as early as possible, then pump her power up to generate insane amounts of mana to cast your spells, whilst also being able to untap her with spells like Burst of Strength so that she can swing in and deal crazy amounts of commander damage.

I've thrown in some cards to help protect Marwyn when she hits the board as she will almost always become one of the biggest targets on the board, I've put the 3 swords in the deck to give her protection from each colour and giving her the buff doesn't hurt either; Sword of War and Peace Sword of Light and Shadow Sword of Body and Mind. I've added The Immortal Sun to deal with planeswalkers, ideally we'd like to get our own planeswalkers used up before this hits the field but it's not the end of the world if we can't, 2 of our planeswalkers have static abilities that still work with the sun on the board. Nissa, Who Shakes the World Karn, the Great Creator. I've added Pithing Needle and Sorcerous Spyglass to take care of cards that may be giving you grief of the battlefield, stopping their abilities from being used can really slow down your opponent.

Untapping Marwyn for less mana than she can produce herself is an insanely good thing we can do with this deck with cards like Wirewood Lodge we only have to pay a single green mana to untap her, let's say she currently has P/T 10/10, we can tap her for 10 green mana, use one of them to untap her then tap her for another 10 green mana, totalling 19 available green mana at the cost of tapping one of our creatures, with this alone you can easily play 2 or 3 of the cards in your hand, adding extra value to the board, there are many cards in this deck that allow Marwyn to untap multiple times per turn, netting us rediculous amounts of mana; Copperhorn Scout Seeker of Skybreak Magewright's Stone Staff of Domination (with which we can go infinite on life AND mana Sword of the Paruns Burst of Strength Stony Strength Vitalize and the aforementioned Wirewood Lodge, all of these cards can uptap Marwyn for very little mana and allow us to get stupid amounts of mana advantage.

If simply tapping and untapping Marwyn doesn't do it for pure mana gains, then i've thrown in Mana Reflection which doubles our mana from any source that creates mana, our Sol Ring now produces four colourless mana, crazy that aint it? What do we plan on doing with all our mana you ask? and to that i will reply, who knows? in a lot of ways, we have the perfect scenario of having all the mana we could ever need, but the perfect set up won't always be available, in an ideal world, we'd have Vanquisher's Banner and The Immortal Sun on the battlefield to make sure we were getting the most value from our draws, drawing extra cards at the upkeep from the sun and drawing a card for every elf we cast with the banner will allow us to almost always have something worth casting in our hands and will effectively use up our lovely big pile of mana. In other games you might find yourself with an empty hand quite early on while you're waiting for some card draw engines to pop up, in this case I would recommend using Marwyn's mana to make her bigger, using abilities like the one on Numa, Joraga Chieftain to buff her as much as possible each turn, this way there are no wasted turns, and before you know it, if you have one of the cards in the deck that give her trample, or even just a simple Rogue's Passage you could be winning the game before your opponents know what hit them.

I've included a janky alternate win con for Marwyn here aswell, Helix Pinnacle allowing us to put her mana directly into it, and along with our untap spells we can fill this up to 100 counters in no time at all, and with it having shroud aswell, it is very difficult to get rid of once it's on the board. if the opponents boards are too big to deal with simply attacking, this is a very fun and achievable alternative that will have your opponents furious.

There's a bunch of other cards in here that i'd love to go over too, but this description is already huge and so i'll leave it at that. this is the basic rundown of the deck and how i intend to win with it and how i'd recommend you try to win with it should you decide to build it.

Thanks for checking out the deck guys, let me know if you'd change anything or what you think in the comments below :)
