Hi everybody! Been playing magic for a few months now and thought of sharing my budget Heroic/Auras with you guys. Theros Block is my absolutely favorite one.

Suggestions are very welcome! I'm trying to keep it budget, that's why some awesome cards are not in the decklist (See Maybeboard).

+1 Upvotes, splash colors/other white cards suggestions and formatting tips (to make it better to you, readers of tappedout) will be great!

Also, be sure to let me know your favorite card flavor text in the comments!

Thanks!

MAINBOARD

Creatures

  • Favored Hoplite: An absolute must have on the opening hand, allows you to swing for at least 3 by turn two, and block big creatures with impunity.

  • Lagonna-Band Trailblazer: Avoids a slow start, Lightning Bolt proof. Becomes a big threat if focused by spells, but even if you don't she's still a reliable blocker.

  • Hero of Iroas: Our mighty champion is the focal point of our army. Can get huge and make everyone else huge by lowering the auras mana cost (bestow included!).

  • Fabled Hero: The greatest legend of Theros triggers with every spell, has combat advantage and will really hurt your opponent once he get's through with Spirit Mantle.

  • Eidolon of Countless Battles: The final act to send your enemies straight to Erebos. Gets pumped up by your board (no need to spend auras here). Plus the bestow mechanic works great in late game, every single one of your creatures goes completely nutsh*t when granted the grace of the gods.

Enchantments

  • Ethereal Armor: Gets upgraded every time you drop ENCHANTMENTS (not just auras).

  • Gryff's Boon: Because you don't want your 14/14 obliterating 1/1's turn after turn, after turn, after turn... Also may be brought back from your graveyard, which opens two spots for other cards!

  • Ordeal of Heliod: Buffs your hoplites everytime they attack, also the extra life allows you to be more aggresive on your charges.

  • Spirit Mantle: For the same reason as Gryff's Boon you want your goliath's hitting in the face those who would dare you. And if you block your creature won't take damage (not that it matters though, they are usually impossible to kill by combat damage).

  • Hyena Umbra: Totem armor to make your champions invincibler!

  • Journey to Nowhere: If anyone is mighty enough stand in the way between your army and the glory of the legendary tales....welp just poof them away.

Instants

  • Emerge Unscathed: Helps against those decks that try to fight our heroes without a fair combat (cowards!), also allows you to trigger heroic, attack and block with impunity for two turns in a row. But beware thee who shall use thy power against the mana of Heliod, because you'll just throw your auras in the graveyard (check the difference between simple +1/+1 and +1+1 counters).

  • Gods Willing: Same as above, but scry will help when you need the most!

  • Defiant Strike: Great to surprise your opponent with a blocker that's suddently stronger than his attacker, besides, this deck runs a really low mana curve and the card draw will be really helpful.

Lands

  • Plains: Because your hoplites need to rest one foot while the other kicks some *ss.

Heroes don't become legends when they fight on fancy lands.

SIDEBOARD

  • Banishing Light: If anyone OR ANYTHING is mighty enough to stand in the way between your army and the glory of the legendary tales....welp just poof them away.

  • Make a Stand: Against boardwipes and the fury of the gods.

MAYBEBOARD

  • Akroan Skyguard: Has all the tools to trigger heroic on a constant basis (every creature on the deck does, actually). Flying allows him to work as a great Mid-game threat. Should be plugged in when you don't have Gryff's Boon or Spirit Mantle.

  • Graceblade Artisan: Great 3 drop that requires few auras to become your biggest creature on the board. Should be used in case you're running less instants/more auras.

  • Daybreak Coronet: The bard's sing about those who have found enough loot to get these. (If you want to invest more on MTG and decks like this, get this card. Get it now. I mean it.)

  • Path to Exile: The best removal in the game.

  • Ajani, Mentor of Heroes: Your enemies will be too stunned by the swift, precise strikes of your heroes to notice you don't run green mana.

Updates Add

Hey guys, swapped Graceblade Artisan with Fabled Hero now that we're running more instants. Plus, double strike to the face.

Included 2x Emerge Unscathed to improve not only protection, but increase aggressiveness. More triggers to heroic, more chances to use it while attacking.

Reduced from 20 to 16 lands. I know. Trust me, the mana curve is 1-2 and you don't want to have more than 3 creatures on the battlefield at the same time. Opens up slots to other cards and avoids that urge of dropping every single card on your hand every turn.

Included 2x Hyena Umbra. Totem armor is usefull early game against other aggressive decks, but this isn't a deffinitive addition yet, I'll look for more cards to see if another one fits better here.

See ya!
