Too late for the contest, I know. But I loved the idea. This deck isn't going to represent her directly, but represent who she is. She's a hero, fighting on the frontline to protect others. The cards I choose, down to the lands, are chosen to reflect that heroism as best I can. This also means it won't be a particularly strong or competitive deck, but in most good stories the hero is an underdog no? There will also be something of a bias given to Theros, as it and Wonder Woman are both tied to Greek mythology. Preference given to female heroes, because in the words of William Moulton Marston, Wonder Woman's creator, ".

Notes on specific cards/Characters:

  • Anax and Cymede: The commander should be a hero of course. Anax and Cymede are described as "Akros's greatest heroes". Seems a good place to start. It also supports the mechanical theme I'm going for, the heroic mechanic. Taking monsters and using instants, sorceries, auras, and equipment (which I know don't trigger heroic) will be the main theme outside of heroism

  • Avacyn: Avacyn, before her corruption, is a clear example of two different types of hero. On the one hand, she is what I like to call an icon hero. Avacyn is a symbol, her righteousness empowering others. Her spear became the symbol of a church, her magic sustaining the wards that protect humanity. She is a symbol of hope and peace, which is one of the most important things that a hero can do. She is also what I will refer to as a champion hero. A champion hero fights so that those she defends doesn't have to. Avacyn does an amazing job of standing up to demons, devils, and even once a rogue angel. Her power gives us faith that good will always be able to triumph over evil.

  • Hazoret: Another icon hero, Hazoret plays an important role in the protection of Amonkhet. While under Bolas's control, she still thinks that she is doing what is right for her beloved people. She thinks of the citizens of Amonkhet as her children. When Bolas's betrayal becomes clear, she fights her sister Bontu, and the Scorpion God who was trained to kill gods, in order to protect her children, losing her arm in the process.

  • Thalia: The guardian of Thraben is perhaps the greatest hero of Innistrad. She like Avacyn is an icon and a champion. Unlike Avacyn though, she can be hurt. She's just a human. A human with combat training sure, but a fragile mortal. Thalia is more inspiring than Avacyn because she puts herself between the darkness and the people of Innistrad knowing that one stray fang or claw could end her life. Thalia has a secret lair devoted to her. This means that, between her two different cards, there was a total of 5 artworks and flavor texts to choose between. I chose the artwork I did for two reasons. Firstly, she fights for the bonds between people. A hero fighting for unity is incredibly inspiring to me personally. A hero who acknowledges that while strong alone, she is stronger with her friends. Secondly, the connection to the moon. This ties her a little closer to Wonder Woman.

  • Entangler: One of the less "heroic" cards in the deck, as Keld wasn't inherently evil. This is one of the "woman power" cards though. A single woman standing up for her home against an entire platoon.

  • Sword of Truth and Justice: Yes, it's Superman's motto, but truth and justice fit Wonder Woman too

  • Sword of War and Peace: Wonder Woman is an incredible fighter, but has diplomatic tendencies. She will do her best to find a peaceful solution if there is one. This sword reflects that dichotomy
