This was the first time that I have been able to go to one of these, and played in the Double-up event on Saturday. After going 2-0, I was able to drop and take a tie to earn enough points to win a Booster Box!
1st Match: 2-0 against Dredge
-I was fortunate that he never dredged over a Creeping Chill and started game two with Rest in Peace in my opening hand, which slowed him down enough for me to burn him out.
2nd Match: 2-1 against Grixis Death Shadow
-Game one was close but he took it with two Death's Shadows out and me with only enough to bring him down to one life. Game two, I kept a hand with all burn spells and just didn't do anything until he took his life total down low enough for me to burn him out on his end step and my turn. Game three he used his only removal spell on Goblin Guide and I played an Eidolon that really put in some work while tried to remove it. When he finally found a Collected Brutality, I had a Skullcrack that pretty much sealed it. Really close game and the first time I have actually beat Death's Shadow.
Ended up getting a Ravnica Allegiance box and opened 4 of the shock lands. Played a sealed event too, and ended up trading my Tix for a sweet new playmat. All-in-all a really fun weekend!
