Mono Black Value

Arena*

whowasfone

Mono black deck constructed from starter packs. I threw in all the removal I had (which ended up being 1/4th of all the nonland cards in the deck) and tried to make my core of creatures resistant to other decks with heavy removal by including the on-death token creators as well as some reanimation and recursion effects. I'm hoping to be able to fully construct a decent deck out of this start without having to cash in any rare or mythic wildcards.

Updates Add

Removals: 1x Dusk Legion Zealot, 1x Skymarch Bloodletter, 1x Dread Shade, 1x Karn, Scion of Urza

Additions: 1x Discovery // Dispersal, 1x Gruesome Menagerie, 2x Swamp,

Added Discovery // Dispersal because it's both equally costed AND lets us see more cards, with the only major downside being that we don't get a body out of casting it. Given all the cheaply costed creatures in the deck I'm perfectly fine with making that sacrifice for only 2 mana. In my games, Dread Shade always ends up being a nonfac tor. On one hand, it's efficiently costed and is a great black mana sink but on the other it has no natural evasion and has no other features other than its repeatable pump ability. Once I get a better suite of utility creatures I'll probably bring a couple copies in, but for the time being I really need more grindy, value-based creatures.

Update Removals: 1x Gruesome Menagerie

Additions: 1x Rise from the Grave
