DO YOU LIKE TREASURE?!?!?!?!?!

Modified from Revel in Artifacts - Jumbo Commander

Tappedout deck: http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/revel-in-artifacts/

The basic plan is to generate a mountain of artifact tokens, and build win conditions around those tokens. Most of our tokens are going to be treasure tokens, and since we're running 5 colors, they can help us color fix a bit. Ideally though, we won't use too many of them for mana, as our win conditions rely on us having a good number of artifacts on the board.

I pulled some cards out of Jumbo Commander's deck which leaned more towards crazier combos, and those that synergized more with Sliver Queen. I'm also trying to avoid getting the budget much higher than it is now. Let me know if you have suggestions.

Kenrith, the Returned King is potentially a more on-theme choice for a commander, but I don't see using any of his abilities except for card draw and life gain. Golos, Tireless Pilgrim adds to artifact synergy just a little, helps color fix, has a fun mana dump that's sort of a gamble, and I just like him.

...about $130 of the deck cost comes from lands, if you are looking to make this more budget friendly...

Win Conditions

Upkeep Triggers: These win conditions don't take effect until the beginning of your upkeep, so the main weakness is that they are fairly telegraphed. (Time Sieve has good synergy here)

  1. Hellkite Tyrant (20+ artifacts)
  2. Mechanized Production (8+ artifacts with the same name as one another)
  3. Revel in Riches (10+ treasures)

Little Pings: These are a slow burn, best supplemented with the next set of win conditions to finish our opponents off.

  1. Reckless Fireweaver (when our artifact tokens ETB, deal 1 damage to each opponent)
  2. Ghirapur AEther Grid (two untapped artifacts, deal 1 damage to target creature/player)
  3. Underhanded Designs (when our artifacts ETB, pay 1 and each opponent loses 1 life, we gain 1 life)

Big Zaps: These are heavy hitters, magnified by the amount of artifacts we have on the field.

  1. Tezzeret, Master of Metal (target opponent loses life equal to the number of artifacts you control)
  2. Tezzeret, Master of the Bridge (each opponent loses life equal to the number of artifacts you control, we gain that much life)
  3. Marionette Master (when one of our artifacts is put in the graveyard from the battlefield, target opponent loses life equal to Marionette Master's power. All That Glitters can make this hilariously powerful)

Big Swings: There are also a couple ways that we can turn our army of tokens into an army of beaters. Like our upkeep trigger win conditions, these are fairly telegraphed. (Time Sieve has good synergy here)

  1. The Antiquities War (on the third lore counter, our artifacts become 5/5 creatures until the end of turn)
  2. Korvold, Fae-Cursed King (sacrifice treasures, hit hard)

Artifact Token Generation

All the win conditions require us to have a good amount of artifact tokens on the battlefield. We have a lot of great ways to hoard treasure and other tokens.

  1. Brass's Bounty (1 treasure for every one of our lands)
  2. Spell Swindle (counter spell, create X treasures, where X is that spell's converted mana cost)
  3. Smothering Tithe (lots of treasure if our opponents don't pay their taxes)
  4. Dockside Extortionist (create X Treasure tokens, where X is the number of artifacts and enchantments your opponents control)
  5. Curse of Opulence (it's not treasure, but gold is close enough, and can draw some heat off of us)

Token Multipliers

We have some ways of getting more value out of our token generators.

  1. Parallel Lives
  2. Second Harvest
  3. Anointed Procession
  4. Doubling Season
