I've always been more of fan of enchantments, and artifacts over creatures. Back in the day I found creatures to fragile, to many ways to get rid of them, or prevent them from doing what their controller wanted them to do. So I made a legacy deck based around Grave Pact a few sac outlets, Royal Assassin and Avatar of Woe. When I got back into the MTG a couple years ago and started playing Commander, I wanted to build something in the vein of that deck, and I felt that even though it had been mono-black, Teysa Karlov epitomized the soul of that dark soulless deck.

The goal of this deck is to use the the creatures in it as fodder to gain life, and make mana. One of my favorite combos is Cathodion or Su-Chi, and Nim Deathmantle. Pick your favorite sac outlet, and just go at it, either of them can be sacked infinitely, and with any token generator out you can build up an army at the end of your opponents turn then swing in.

You can also use Necropotence to get around any lands with Bolas's Citadel and if you have Aetherflux Reservoir on the table you can play out your whole deck then pot your opponents with Aetherflux Reservoir.

Most frequently though the death wins by simply making your opponents loss life through Blood Artist, Zulaport Cutthroat, Cruel Celebrant, or Vizkopa Guildmage.

I know that Exquisite Blood and Sanguine Bond fit the theme of this deck perfectly, but it is an explicit choice not to include this combo in the deck.
