Life, Death, and Zombies

Pioneer Reanimator WB (Orzhov) Zombie

Tylord2894

Sideboard

Let's turn Rally the Ancestors into a triple strength Exsanguinate in Pioneer. The plan of the deck is to establish a clock on a couple of fronts.

First, play your zombies ideally with at least one of the two draining zombies out, Wayward Servant or Corpse Knight . Cards like Diregraf Colossus effectively double the drain triggers while adding to your board.

Second, your opponent is going to do something about this. Enter Rally the Ancestors . Once your zombies have died, bring them back and get those triggers again. Remember, each drain zombie will "see" the other zombies enter, so a 5 mana Rally basically turns into a 15 mana Exsanguinate . Cool!! There are a couple of other graveyard stuffers. Stitcher's Supplier and Liliana, Untouched By Death rip through your deck while also draining your opponent.

To top things off, some value zombies with Cryptbreaker and Murderous Rider . ]Plague Bletcher as a way to kill Stitcher's Suppliers and get trigger when you Rally in blockers. Thoughsieze, Fatal Push , and Lilana, the Last Hope to control problems and buy some time. Sign in Blood to draw cards in a pinch or kill your opponent (always a spicy play).

I've thought about running Caves of Koilos over the Plains , but this has worked so far. Hope you enjoy!!

Updates Add

I've been doing some tests with this deck, and it performs fairly well overall and is a blast to play. Most of the cards are pretty much set in stone. For obvious reasons, I don't want to remove any more creatures, but there are several non-creature cards that are vying for very limited room.

As is, I am running Call of the Death-Dweller as a two-of. This was originally a spot for Sign in Blood. There are times where you just need an extra land or a creature to get the engine going. Sign in Blood helps out tremendously in other cases. Other times, its a pretty dead card. Sign in Blood was then replaced with Embalmer's Tools to double-down on the reanimation theme; however, I ran into the same issue, good occasionally and subpar more often.

That brings us to where we are now. Call of the Death-Dweller solves some of the shortcomings of Rally the Ancestors in that I can bring back things that will stay. This, unfortunately, does not do what Sign in Blood did. Without a meta to test in right now, I can't say what the best call is. I would cut some creatures, but that seems like it would cut into the overall effectiveness of the deck.

If you have any ideas, I'd love to hear them.
