The mighty Selenia might look a little unexciting to the layman. A 3/3 flyer who can bounce to your hand... well, at least you can save on the commander tax? Still, how much is a 3/3 for five really going to accomplish?

The thing we're really excited about with her ability is actually the cost, not the effect. Selenia lets you pay as much life as you want (so long as you keep activating her ability in response to itself) at any time, dropping to 1 or 2 points of life at a moment's notice. Immediately take advantage of this with Repay in Kind, Reverse the Sands, Axis of Mortality or Soul Conduit and drop your opponent right on death's door! At this point, a card like Wound Reflection or an evasive attacker like Soltari Visionary can finish him off.
