swap out Doom Blade for Murder or Ultimate Price or even Victim of Night and you would have a good standard deck. +1 for a killer budget deck

I'd mainboard Blind Obedience and sideboard Nevermore . Unless you have a way to look at their hand or library, with Nevermore you either won't use it at all or just be guessing and hoping your right.

I would swap out Thousand lashes for Mutilate for just in case you are put up against a token or creature board you cannot handle. I agree with the Priestess that nevermore is a sideboard and blind obedience is a great choice but, to match this budget theme, so is Oblivion Ring. Also Your extort base could afford to lose Kingpin's pet and use say Vampire Nighthawk making your board a threat immediately and still having crucial life gain. Other than that I love this deck.

Blood Baron of Vizkopa , though a bit expensive (it's like $9 if I remember correctly), would liven up the life gain aspect of this deck, as well as give your deck a good finishing attack, due to having flying after the effect occurs, and initial protection from white and black. In conjunction with that card, putting an Akroma's Memorial in here (it's not that expensive compared to BBoV, being about $3-5, at least for M13) would give your creatures a strong boost, as well as make them impossible to hit against Rakdos decks, and give your stronger creatures the ability to destroy blockers, and still assign combat damage to the opponent with trample, maximizing the power of BBoV's last ability.

Have you thought about the Sanguine Bond and Exquisite Blood combo? It can be an instant kill.

Oooh. God, here's me not looking at my cards. I boarded in Viskopa Guildmage for that very reason, but that simply replicates Sanguine Bond . Ta.Should I keep the enchantment or the duder?

ChasingSuns707 says... #8

Personally I would keep the enchantment, just because it'll be a constant effect instead of you having to pay the mana every time you wanna use it. Also, if you have Blood Artist in play you can tap it to kick Blood Tribute to ricochet life gain back at them, and if you do that with Sanguine Bond in play then it's a one hit kill.

+1 from me, based on how you are just destroying everyone's creatures. I would suggest keeping Blood Artist instead of Kalastria Highborn . However since you are running a lot of vampires I think she would be a better card than Blind Zealot just to get the most out of you sacrificing vampires.

Would you firmly recommend using 3x Kalastria Highborn in Blind Zealot place, then?

LioAME3 says... #11

Yah I definitely would, just to hurt them even more when you are killing everything.

Serra Ascendant . Enough said.

DavidBray says... #13

Where would you place it artakha?

January 6, 2014 12:09 p.m.

artakha says... #14

Hmm... those Blind Zealot s aren't doing much for you. If you replace them, 2 Serra Ascendant s, and one more Divinity of Pride would work.

Or, if you're like me and like an overpowered menace, try Blood Baron of Vizkopa . I swear, he's a beast.

I'll be honest, the whole Blood Artist + Cartel Aristocrat combo doesn't work as well without red in it. Most people used it with Falkenrath Aristocrat during standard matches pre-Theros.

Also, you might wanna balance your mana more evenly. But that's just my personal opinion.

How does Blood Baron of Vizkopa compare to Divinity of Pride ?He's dear. Might grab him when he cycles out of standard.

January 6, 2014 2:44 p.m.

artakha says... #17

Well, Blood Baron of Vizkopa has protection from white and black. That basically makes him immune to most forms of individual removal. Plus, his second ability basically puts the opponent in a life or death situation in a game.

I love nighthawk, but how do you feel about Stillmoon Cavalier ? I love that card so much.

+1

At 2/1, he's definitely uncommon, but that is one "make-you-own-hero" tollkit there. Worth considering, emask

It's more of a fun suggestion, but might be an unexpected play.. Not so great against RDW...

Great deck man! The deck runs real smooth, and Carrion Feeder works well but only starts to work in mid range. Cause early game it doesn't essentially become a threat until you got Lingering Souls or a few creatures and Blood Artist shouldn't be the first target, which I'm sure is the point in having em start beating around that time in the game. Overall deck seems solid, I would suggest Read the Bones over greed, 1 mana cheaper, lets you scry 2 then draw 2 and lose 2 life, sounds a lot better. +1 overall!

DavidBray says... #22

Thanks for the kind works xKrenko. I have had moments when Greed can give me everything I need, but you're right - it doesn't quite have the punch. We will see what replaces him on the next run.

LordOfMishap says... #23

I agree with xKrenko, Read the Bones is a much better fit. Thats double the cards and your essentially improving your probability of drawing the essentials. I like the mechanics of this deck a lot! I always wanted to build a reanimater deck. +1 for me. Check out my life gain deck Life Consumption V 2.0. Suggestions are always welcome.

DavidBray says... #24

Thanks lordofmishap1982. Read the Bones it shall be, then! Would you recommend pulling another card for 2x?

February 27, 2014 5:50 p.m.

xKrenko says... #25

If I had to remove something I would start with Toxic Deluge or Black Sun's Zenith only because your running 1 of them where other cards are more reasonable. Even Blind Obedience I would consider taking out the only reason again for those because your only running 1!
