The Forged in Fire deck is a deck all about creating a fast intense challenge for your opponents to face. If they can't bring the heat they won't make the cut and will have to leave the forge. The deck aims to create treasure tokens to accelerate your casting as well as to activate special abilities with its creatures. It also aims to swiftly build artifacts while at the same time creating a mana pool that will allow you to play powerful creatures. In the end, you might just rely on the Vorpal Sword, and in this case, it will keal.

Goals: Create a lot of treasures and artifacts

Commanders: Prosper, Tome-Bound is the main with Kalain, Reclusive Painter as secondary commander

Note:The sideboard is not a legal one, I am sure you noticed with how many cards there are, it's just a pick and choose whatever cards you have on hand sort of deal

The Vorpal Sword:

Kalain, Reclusive Painter + Vorpal Sword + Thieves' Tools

This combo is easiest to pull off with Kalain as the commander. She is weak enough to get the buff from the blade and still be able to attack your opponents directly. This combo will also work well with Rogue's Passage and any other creature. The Vorpal Blade speaks for its self so if you are able to keep it out and have the mana it will keal.

The Reckless Outlaw

Magda, Brazen Outlaw + Liquimetal Coating/Liquimetal Torque/Mycosynth Lattice + Clock of Omens + Reckless Fireweaver

To Start we need Magda, Brazen Outlaw to be an artifact. Next to begin the trick you use Clock of Omens to tap its self and Magda, to untap Magda. This creates a Treasure and because an artifact entered the battlefield Reckless Fireweaver does one damage to an opponent

Infinte Span Dragon

Goldspan Dragon + Crown of Flames + Xorn or Panharmonicon

Start by equipping Crown of Flames to Goldspan Dragon. Goldspan will create a Treasure by being targeted by a spell and Xorn will create another. Use the Treasure for one red mana, which will instead make two due to Goldspan. Pay for Crown of flames to return to your hand and play it again with the second mana that was produced repeat till you win.

After a bit of playtesting, the deck when it goes will significantly get out of hand to where it can hold its own. I only mostly play 1v1 and the deck has a hard time starting out. It may also have to do with not having all the significant cards, like Hellkite Tyrant, Revel in Riches, and Goldspan Dragon but I don't know I don't have those cards and they are really hard to get.

  1. The deck is a bit slow to get out sometimes. I found playing with Prosper is better than Kalain cause he gets the card draw you need and consistently gets treasures, but if you don't get him out soon (or opponents counter him) you fall so far behind that you just end up entirely on the defensive.

  2. The Second issue might be because of the lack of cards. The deck is supposed to have 3 tutor cards (Grim Tutor, Demonic Tutor, and Varragoth) I'm missing Demonic, so searching could be limited.

    • Deck is also missing Reveal in Riches, and Hellkite Tyrant both of which provide two other significant win conditions for the deck.

I am fairly new to magic in general (played for about a year), and commander in general so any advice or help would be great! I would prefer if the advice didn't include the cards that I mentioned above (or that are on the sideboard) because I don't have those cards, but if that's really what the deck needs then so be it.
